This week for we have another that .

This one I would rate as medium. This is a ceratopsian is a juvenile representative of its species, and might be dubious as a result.

Reminder: hide your answer behind a content warning. This will allow others to guess without a hint. I will post the answer tomorrow (and to anyone who guesses correctly).

The body was designed by Kongzilla and modified heavily by me into something new.

Got a look at a replica of thr holotype of . Whats everyone's thoughts on it? I was dubious about it before, and more so now. Here are some of the images. I feel its not from the right place or time to be a ceratopsian. And given how relatively generic the bone looks it could be almost anything. @llewelly kinda. Its superficially looks like a Leptocerarops. The issue is that Leptoceratops like 50 million years later on an unconnected continent. Itd be like finding a rhino shull next to a T. rex.
Is it interesting and weird, yes, would it be cool, also yes, do we need more fossils, always. But i think its a massive rush to a conclusion to place a ceratopsian in Australia off one bone, with zero other evidence.

Lawrence Lambe discovered the first Centrosaurus in the early 1900.

The name, much like the similarly sounding Kentrosaurus, is derived from the Greek 'kentron' meaning pointy. It does not refer to the single horn, which wasn't found until much later.

A bonebed found in Alberta contains hundreds of individuals of varying ages. It appears they all drowned while crossing a river.

My doesn't detect my external monitor any more after I installed some updates... It's drawing power from the USB-C connection but isn't detecting the display. Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm on Monterey so the fix I found on the support page doesn't seem to be available on my mac...

The only known fossil material of Albertaceratops was found in 2001. It was described formally in 2007 by Michael J. Ryan. He found it was one of the most basal centrosaurines.

Other specimens were thought to have been found in the Judith River Formation, but they were later revealed to be Medusaceratops instead.

I will not vote for Biden and I urge everyone I know to abstain from voting for him or Trump. They are the same. This is a dual-party fascist state. Biden is a 21st Century Hindenburg. I previously felt a need not to give presidential voting advice publicly. Today changed that. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/trump-biden-collide-split-screen-trips-border-immigration-spotlight-rcna140899?taid=65e1095ae6aea10001992eb2&utm_campaign=trueanthem&utm_medium=social&utm_source=twitter

TheDinosaurDave,
@TheDinosaurDave@sauropods.win avatar

@VPS_Reports But theyre not the same. Biden has done a heap of good over all, esp compared to trump.
THe biggest issue is see is if trump gets back in project 2025 will be in place to fully take over the country and full on genocide groups of people they dont like.
There seriously isnt a level of alarmed we cannot be at at this point. Any republican win, anywhere, is a step towards totalitarianism. We are at the tipping point for the whole world. There is no power that could remove a fascist USA

The other day I made a very crude guessing game where you guess the name of an extinct animal, and itll show you the closest common classification.
This is an updated version of that game. But its far from perfect.
Its also coded in HTML so anyone can edit it in a text editor.

Full explanation in the second post
1/2

TheDinosaurDave,
@TheDinosaurDave@sauropods.win avatar

To be fair, i kinda cheated generating the list. I used chatgpt to do that part. So any classification errors can be blamed on it. I will be manually expanding and checking all 500 of them soon
Try it here.
Theres a full list of animals in the game, the game itself, and a check list you can use as a guide to identifying them if you need it.
All of these will be updated as i add more things. Atm this is just proof of concept.

TheDinosaurDave,
@TheDinosaurDave@sauropods.win avatar

Did a quick hotfix on the files if anyone wants to get them again.
Let me know how you go, and how many guesses it takes you to fine the right answer :D

YouTube "skeptics" have been on a journey away from science for a long time and now some of them are legit asking if the moon landing was faked.

(this is what happens when you follow your audience as they drift to the right and off of the deep end.)

I would encourage their old nemesises on fundie YouTube to take a victory lap... but now they just agree with each other. (?)

Where have all the true rational warriors gone!

I made a very very crude extinct animal guessing game.
Basically you can either run the code manually by following the instructions or try the compiled exe file which is the same thing.
Biggest known bug is its case sensative. Im new to and couldn't get my head around how to fix that

Basically you type the species name and itll tell you the common point in the evolutionary history.
For example if its Triceratops then Carnotaurus would give dinosauria as a clue

TheDinosaurDave,
@TheDinosaurDave@sauropods.win avatar

At some point i would like to add graphics.
I imagine it showing a tree of life similar to metazooa.
Maybe an image of the animal starting off covered or blurry that slowly becomes clearer over time.
Idk food for thought
Let me know any issues ir changes youd like

    Euoplocephalus was found in 1897 in Alberta.

    In 1902 it was named . But that was found already be the name given to an insect (like most cool names).

    In 1910 it was changed to Euoplocephalus.

    In 1971 Walter Coombs concluded that all anklyosaurid remains from the of North America belonged to Euoplocephalus.

    Recently paleontologists have reverted several back to their own species.
