In regards to your second question, I can’t comment on PSVR2 but I’d expect it to be the same. You can use PSVR1 as a normal screen. It’s like playing at a cinema, a big bright screen amongst the blackness.

Tell me those wheels are so old, there’s actually a metal axle connecting them! 😁

UKFilmNerd,
@UKFilmNerd@feddit.uk avatar

Looking closer, I’m assuming those are teeth marks in the bricks? If so, classic! 👍 Also, it never occurred to me to use the old wheel arch piece as a bulldozer blade. Nice.

The GameCube was my first which I bought on launch day because I had to have Rogue Squadron II: Rogue Leader which I still think looks pretty damn good even now.

I loved that little purple cube but the controllers even more so. They’re just so damn comfortable!

If you’re going to play the first game, and I highly recommend it, download and use the open source engine from https://keeperfx.net/. It fixes some bugs and stats from the original game and allows it to run on modern Windows systems in higher resolutions.

I loved this game since it was first released and it’s voiced by Peppa Pig’s Dad! 😆

Its definitely worrying yet we’ve just got Prey announced with a physical release but I guess that’s a rare exception.

Bizarrely, there seems to be a trade on Etsy with people burning streaming only shows onto Blu-ray.

Perhaps I should start looking at Blu-ray burners… 😁

I'm looking for a FOSS Weather app for android

Hello! I’m looking for a foss weather app for android, so I went ahead to f-droid and tried a bunch of them, but didn’t find any that fully satisfies me: I want to be able to see the hourly forecast of any day of the week, not just the “global” forecast, and I want the weather service used not to require a credit card...

UKFilmNerd,

Another vote from me for Rain. Much nicer to look at than the BBC Weather App.

So thats where the special effects budget went! All I remember is the scene where they are outside the main guys house and it’s clearly in front of a backdrop or that’s how it looked.

I’m being harsh, I know this was filmed during COVID so I guess there was a lot of restrictions.

To be fair, I really enjoyed the section inside the moon. The production design was really nice. It’s that everything else was pretty rubbish. 😆

Purchasers of worthless digital monkeys sue worthless digital monkey auction house after realizing that worthless digital monkeys are worthless (arstechnica.com)

The Sotheby’s auction house has been named as a defendant in a lawsuit filed by investors who regret buying Bored Ape Yacht Club NFTs that sold for highly inflated prices during the NFT craze in 2021.

How much are NFTs worth? Not a Fucking Thing!

When my children have meltdowns, it’s all out anger, everything is wrong and you can’t really reason with them in that state. You have to let them calm down in their own way before you can help make the situation better.

Oh god this. Either my PC couldn’t run it very well, or the demo just sucked because I didn’t think the concept worked in 3D. Killed off the franchise really.

Another 3D transition was the Another World series. First there was Another World, then in the same style of graphics, Flashback and then the sequel in full 3D, Fade to Black which had awful controls and ran very slowly for me. I’m sure my machine matched the specs at the time.

Have an upvote from me. I dumped pocket and started using this instead. It’s simpler, cleaner and easier to use. I also reported a web page that wouldn’t save properly, it was just an URL without any header or text.

Within about 48 hours, after reporting the link, it saved as a proper page of text. I like to think they fixed it.

Ahh the memories.

I first saw this game running in a computer shop on a 3DO and thought it looked awesome.

Then later, my regular PC magazine featured a demo on the cover CD. The presentation blew me away and I played it repeatedly. I loved the videos for the cars, the demo featured the videos for the Dodge Viper and I’ll never forget the music to this day.

I bought the game pretty quickly once it came out and loved it.

Carrier Command was utterly brilliant. I first had this on my ZX Spectrum ( it only played on 128k models)

The graphics were clear wireframe and moved so slowly but the tactical game was awesome.

Then I later got my first 16bit computer, the Atari ST and it came with…Carrier Command.

Now the graphics were in colour and the vehicles were made of solid geometric shapes and everything moved so fluidly in comparison to the previous version.

Loved the game all over again.

I know there’s an (unofficial?) Sequel on PC but I haven’t looked into it yet.

Wait! What! Runs off to nearest PC! 😁

UPDATE: There were too many blurays to trawl through and pretty much all of them were the usual trash I see in charity shops.

However, there’s a shop on eBay called the World of Books. They currently have 3 for £7 and there’s a much more interesting choice. I’ll post later. 😊

More eBay purchases.

Saw Layer Cake recently and loved it, so picked up the cheapest copy for a couple of quid.

On eBay, World of Books had a 3 for £7 deal, so I grabbed District 13 and its sequel which counts as one obviously, the brilliant Knives Out (2 hour making of) and the underrated Edge of Tomorrow. (No, it’s not called Live. Die. Repeat.)https://feddit.uk/pictrs/image/62908293-3c10-4e38-841c-c4e8fcc0368f.jpeg

Foss music player suggestions?

Hello! I’m currently using Musicolet as music player app on my android phone, and I really really really like its features. the ones I use the most are the possibility to reorganize the queue just by dragging songs, and the “boolean” operations on playlists (for example, If I have the “favourite” playlist with a lot of...

UKFilmNerd,

It’s been a fantastic but of software over the years but Musicolet feels like a breath of fresh air. More importantly, it plays music louder than PowerAmp! I thought it was the limitation of my headphones. So I’m quite happy about that.

I don’t understand how people walk around the supermarkets observing the massive gaps on the shelves and thinking that Brexit was a good thing.

The government has delayed full import checks yet again until January because the system isn’t ready yet and the fact it will make matters worse.

Growing up, I was quite brand loyal with occasional dips to other magazines if the freebies were any good.

ZX Spectrum - Crash magazine Atari ST - ST Format with semi regular copies of ST Action depending on the demo disks. PC - PC Format. Dreamcast - The official Dreamcast magazine, it was the only one with demo CDs. GameCube - I honestly can’t remember which magazine but I definitely bought one regulary.

By the time I had the first Xbox, all reviews and news I was getting from the internet.

I loved my minidisc player. My first was a Sharp but that was stolen in a robbery. So I replaced it with a Sony NetMD which I loved even more. Due to the new compression, depending on the length of the albums, you could fit 3 or 4 onto one disc. Also it docked with the PC, so labelling and ripping was really easy. I bought a compatible in line remote which had a backlit LCD display which I loved. The chewing gum stick battery lasted ages and if it did run out of power, I could screw on a little compartment that’s held a AA battery and keep me going.

I loved that little player.
