Wasn’t Alex Jones caught watching trans porn or something? Between this and that, you can wonder if there’s anything real in these people’s life. Must be hard to always pretend.

Yerbouti,

I still prefer the Rolling Stone’s " Put that baby in boiling water", not disrespect to the Beatles.

Yerbouti,

This kid was raised to believe flexing a gun is cool. The society he grew up in is broken. When I was is age, I wouldn’t had been able to do this because I didn’t had access to gun, easy fix.

Yerbouti,

This is starting to look like reddit. No, kids are not fucking stupid.

Yerbouti,

Upvoted because this is true. I knew that information so I can confirm it. I swear I did.

Yerbouti,

Fedora works pretty well. Any fork with Gnome should work.

Yerbouti,

If I’m correct Justin sold WinAmp and then created Reaper AKA the best DAW ever made.

Yerbouti,

Small but great!!! Once I’ve blocked Hexbear (the proud boys pretending to be far-left), everything is pretty fun and respectful.

Yerbouti,

Nah. Lemmy is FOSS while Reddit is going to shit.

Yerbouti,

I know it doesnt fix toxicity but it has the potential to bring solutions. Users dont have any power over Reddit’s management decision, they made sure to remind us last year. But wity Lemmy, we can always change the rule, experiment with new systems, etc. That’s a huge difference.

Yerbouti,

When the creator of Monkey Island tells you Fuck You, you definitely messed out something in your life. Shame on you Elon Musk for disappointing Ron Glibert.

Yerbouti,

Ron is awesome. He’s on Mastodon, really fun to follow.

Yerbouti,

The first sentence says it’s “definitely not perfect” and “in MY experience”. So relax, nobody is dismissing your bad experience.

Yerbouti,

They’re definitely not perfect but in my one year experience on Linux+2080ti, it’s totally usable. The Linux community seems to enjoy those overblown drama, at this point the Nvidia thing is basically a meme, pretty funny to watch.

Yerbouti,

There you go! Now look at you, all grown up and ready to not care too much about unimportant stuff. Good luck now! Enjoy your computer and remember, you can be nice to people you disagree with, it’s really possible.

Yerbouti,

According to the discord, it could be as soon as this weekend.

Yerbouti, (edited )

You ok? Still thinking about this? Lol, I actually think Nvdia sucks big time! I get my GPUs for free that’s why I use Nvidia. I wouldn’t give them money, unlike you. Stop crying and get an AMD maybe?

who is on Lemmy (the sociology of Lemmy)

I dont know if this has been asked before or if this may be a little goofy of a question but I didn’t see anything relating to it and I’m kinda curious what the culture of Lemmy is like and what sort of common things people see. ive been paying attention to interactions but nothing is as good as just asking everyone.

Yerbouti,

I’m on Lemmy and I’m also hyperopic. Therefore, Lemmy is a community with at least one hyperopic.

Yerbouti,

I mean, if that’s the example you’re going for… It’s actually quite easy to imitate Van Gogh, yet everyone has a reproduction somewhere at home. The fact that it’s easy to imitate doesn’t make it less artistic. If your vision of good art is photorealistic paintings, maybe you should open your mind about it. Have you actually been to some contemporary art exhibitions? I’m not saying you have to like everything but there’s some amazing work being done by passionate people. Generalisation like “modern art is pathetic” doesn’t seem to indicated a real understanding of art and intentions.

I'm thinking seriously about getting Google out of my life, and trying NextCloud.

Looking to get a personal account through a managed provider.

Does anyone have any experience with it?

How does it compare to ownCloud?

Any hosts I should look at or avoid?

Any apps I should get for it, or avoid?

Any issues I should be aware of before I switch?

@asklemmy

Yerbouti,

2 weeks ago, I suscribed to a pre-installed Nextcloud service. IT IS SO WORTH IT!!! It’s much more that what I was expeting. Data storgage of course, but tons of super usefull apps. Deck to replace Trello, News for rss feeds, Only Office for an online suite, Memories for picture, a very usefull media player, and much more. In the age of AI, I’m never again storing anything on Google or MS storage. We nees to take the internet back, fuck the GAFAM.

Yerbouti,

This is actually really popular among my music students. I completely disagree on most case. X raped 300 kids but hey, he makes pretty good beats so let’s pay 200$ for a concert.

Yerbouti,

People who suscribe to Spotify don’t give a shit about musicians.

Yerbouti,

Yeah, it is an unpopular opinion lol.

The fact is Spotify and Youtube music are the two worse streaming service. They give less to artists, the pool system only benefits artists that are signed to majors, and on top of that they give 100 effing millions to stupid Joe Rogan. You are paying money to Joe, not artists.

If you need a streaming service, Tidal is the only ok option. Same price but 3x more for artist. But the best thing you can do is: buy album from bandcamp (90% to the artists), go to shows, buy merch, contribute directly to the artists in any way.

I’m actually teaching in a college to young musicians, who all want to live of their music but pretty much none of them has ever even bought an album. I don’t think I’ve ever convinced a single one to switch to Tidal.
