I like gaming, tech, and gadgets. Most of my gaming is done on #PC #PCGaming and iOS, but occasionally #Xbox.

I love #SciFi, #Fantasy (#BrandonSanderson is god, prove me wrong), fast cars, #TopGear, #TheGrandTour, #StarWars. I have been known to occasionally dabble in code.

All of you who use laptops as your workstations do you take care of its and how? Do you limit charging at 80%?

@darth Yea, I limit the charge to 80%. Although, I’ve only been able to do that on my current on, all previous laptops I’ve had couldn’t do that, so I let it charge to 100% all the time. Only had one issue with battery issues, that had physical bulging/growth issues leading to a replacement.

I use Notion (coughgeekcough), didn’t get along with OneNote at all, used Bear for a while, wasn’t too happy about paying monthly, not going to touch Google’s Keep, don’t know much about the other options, but they do look interesting. What’s your favorite?

@assaf I use Obsidian for personal notes and things I keep track of. But Notion for work stuff we have shared with other team members. Still getting into Notion, since we were in Evernote for quite a long time. But I saw the writing on the wall and ditched EN after they fired all(or a lot) of their staff earlier this year.

    TW: food post

    I’ve been craving the baja style fish tacos I had in California… soooo…

    I made:

    • A garlic lime cilantro crema sauce (garlic cloves, mayo, greek yogurt, lime juice, cilantro — in the food processor).
    • A corn salsa. (roasted corn, diced red onions, cilantro, lime & lemon juice).

    To make later:

    • blackened tilapia filets
    • shred the red cabbage
    • toast my fresh tortillas

    I can’t wait! This is my happy place. 😃

    An old hobby of mine is replicating dishes from restaurants. 🤗

    @dhrystone ooh, I hadn’t seen that either. Very interesting! Let me know what you think of it. My only concern is its compatibility with another plugin I use for natural language dates, because it uses the @ sign as a trigger. I I’ll have to look at options to see if they can coexist.

    Continuing my Homebrew package manager journey today. What is the correct sequence of commands to ensure that everything is up to date? I see a few conflicting things, it looks like perhaps the process used to require more commands but has been streamlined in recent years.

    It seems to just be “brew update” then “brew upgrade”... I think? Any other tips for a noob to ensure I'm updating everything correctly?

    Today my 11yo, who has two broken arms, managed to get his finger stuck in a outdoor bench that has finger-sized holes. Luckily we got his finger out after a couple of tense minutes. My wife and I were both horrified. I swear we aren’t bad parents, he’s just REALLY crazy. You’d think a bike accident, two broken arms, one hard cast, one splint, missing soccer season, etc, would be enough motivation to just chill and play it cool. NOPE! Not for him.

    So my Ivory on Mac has been displaying weird notifications lately. When I click on them, I get this popup. At a point, I had the beta version installed, but have long since moved to the MAS version.

    What's the easiest way to play your Epic Games library on the Steam Deck these days?

    I tried and tried months ago and just gave up.

    I could get Xbox Game Pass working like a charm among other things, but Epic? nope.
