You know those days when you feel you made a very bad decision when you agreed to go to Earth school for 100 years, and you were promised “expansion of your soul”, and you thought “oh, cool, I want that”, and then it turned out to be 100 years of constant fear, pain, confusion, unrequited love, never being smart enough, never pretty enough, never funny enough, never fast enough - or just too fast, too intense, too much or too little at the wrong time.

Yeah. That's why ice coffee was invented.

@MariaLiv I know that feeling, I think. It’s not a fun time. Don’t let the shadows swallow you, though. They are fiendish, but you are strong, and I am sure that there are are those who would gladly lend a hand to help dig you out of your avalanche.

    @amyfou my brain expected “more” to be part of another comparative adjective structure. It reeled a bit before parsing it “correctly”. News headlines conventions are so strange. But they offer such gems at times. I will use any mention of news headlines to share my favorite of all time:

    “British left waffles on Falkland Islands”

    Call me old fashioned, but a pair of well placed googly eyes is still one of my favorite acts of vandalism. Used here to improve local real estate ads.

    I’ve found so many interesting people on Mastodon that I’m not sure I would have on the birdsite. While the user base here is smaller, the existence of subject-specific servers allowed me to more easily find interesting linguistics folks.

    Many people here also have more thoughtful and curated follow lists than on the birdsite. This makes it easier to find other interesting people in the follow lists of the people I follow.

    I’m grateful that the birdsite offramp led to much greener pastures.

    Today is the first day of language & culture summer camp, the first in-person camp since 2019. It’s been a while since I taught the language, having spent the last couple of years immersed in analysis of the documentation. I’m looking forward to getting back to engaging with the language in the present!

    Also looking forward to seeing how much the kids I remember have grown and inevitably feeling old as a result. 👴
