Speaking about Arthur C. Clarke's "The Songs of Distant Earth", Mikke Oldfield's similarly titled album might be loosely based on the novel but it still hits rather hard after you have read the book.
A wonderful duet that stays with you.

I really want motherfucking quote posts on here.

Right now there's a lot of German-language posts that are interesting for a larger audience, but no, Mastodon doesn't allow me to translate these or add context to them and share with my followers.

I feel like this is social network kindergarten.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Please do not reply with suggestions of other software I should use.

accela,

@thomasfuchs i don't know, i always having a Gandalf moment with this one.

I could also use quote toots for the desire to do good, but many times it's because i want to shitpost someone ( ._ .)

accela,

@thomasfuchs I understand that, though quote RT "feels" higher in scale of verbal abuse, closer to exposing & canceling somebody instead of attacking their arguments "face to face" by a reply.

Anyway i'm 50/50 on this. Certainly can be used for good too.

  • accela,

@Free_Press "Flaw in their DNA"? Complex economic and sociopolitical context is not a good enough explanation for you so better try "good old", pure racism?

Whenever I see comments like this about I always have to ask, who do you think would be developing this new protocol? Every single graphics developers agrees that Wayland is where we're going, the problem is nobody agrees on how it should look

    accela,

@BrodieOnLinux Who they think they are scraping others, open source and free, work? What's next? Enter in a Xorg conference with a toilet sink and bossing people around?

Why does Quake 2 on Steam list November 11th of 1997 as the release date? The files on the original CD are from November 30th, and the "canonical" US release date has been December 9th (although I'm not sure how, seeing how it's only a week away from master)

    accela,

@dosnostalgic Maybe they had "some" version uploaded on ID's ftp server and they consider that as their release day? Fat chance...

I’m currently paying them $11.90 a month to host my homeserver on their EMS platform.

My payment in April will have been the last.

It’s one thing to provide FLOSS comms to the government. It’s another to proudly support our fucked up police system.

    accela,

@pixelcode @scy No that's not correct. Selling your services to the enforcing arm of the state can affect the lives of many people.

Doesn't necessarily has to be a compromise of your product.

Did we mistreat Github/Microsoft when it came out that they hosting the private code of ICE immigration cops? Ofcourse not. Let them burn. Both of them.

I mean, if you want to go all the way back to WW2 then might have a story or two to say about IBM.
