I’ve been making a typeface for the headers on my blog, and now it’s pretty much done I had a play making a fleuron. It’s practically the law that if you make a variable font you have to do an animation of it. So. ☺️

Got all excited for a moment that there was some blossom on the cherry tree, but it’s a dove!

Just one dove, there’s normally two sitting together. I’ll be fretting about that now.

Birbies dust bathing on the path. I keep meaning to sweep all that up, but now, maybe I’ll leave it. A video might have been better because in some shots you’d think “dead bird” but they were very much alive. Camera controls though, by the time I’d figured it out they’d have gone.

Last boost not entirely as approval, but I’m sure they’ll help some people. It’s not even a mastodon thing, I once thought it would be handy to have ‘standard disclaimers’ on Twitter posts years ago “yes, I know about this obvious thing” etc. but obvs didn’t do that.

Went out to take a photo of the daffodils and the sparrows were hanging out in the pear tree, so I took some photos of them too.

Carrying a bunch of stuff out to the workshop earlier I knocked over this daffodil, so I brought it in. It’s sat in a vase all by itself now.

Made another attempt at the carob bar experiment. This time I used cacao butter as the base and it worked so much better. It can’t be tempered like real chocolate but it’s got quite a good snap to it. I think next time I’ll put orange oil in it.

Made a carob bar. It tastes nice, but the recipe said ‘sugar or maple syrup’, and I now know caster sugar isn’t right. It doesn’t have anything to dissolve into so stays gritty. Will try again tomorrow.

I used to hate carob. It was always the ‘healthy alternative’ to chocolate rather than being a thing in itself and that ruined it.
