LOL apparently it's the most exciting day so far for my son (medic, working the search and rescue copter today)... apparently people are getting hurt left and right out in the wilderness.

The more I use my commercial handheld radios, the more I kind of dislike my amateur handhelds. Of course the commercial radios don't have the amateur friendly features, but they just work really well with very little (if any) flakiness. And they are rugged. And yes, you pay for it.

I'll never abandon my amateur handhelds, but sometimes I wish they were just better.

@bud_t Thus, why some of us like to purchase commercial radios and program in the frequencies we need (although, as you mention... darn difficult to reprogram in the field without a PC).
