I haven’t been able to find all the right groups of people on the fediverse. And this makes me sad. I follow a group of people in my field of work and a large # of people in the Apple development ecosystem.

What I couldn’t find so far:

  • people that talk regularly about
  • people that toot regularly about
  • people that listen to and toot about the albums they are listening
  • people that listen to classical music and toot about those albums.

Can you help?

Isn’t this behavior in a bit strange: to use jump to matching parentheses, bracket, brace:

  1. cursor must be on the opening character
  2. cursor must be after the ending character

Why after and not on the last character?

@siracusa sorry for bothering you with this question.

In SwitchGlass, “Show All Windows - Activate an app and bring all its window to the front.” Is this action supposed to also restore minimized or hidden windows? Or does it apply only to non-minimized, non-hidden? (The behavior I’m observing is the latter which is a bit confusing for me when thinking of “all”).

Thank you

Today I have used VS Code. Because I couldn’t get a file browser working in a logical way in vim. Almost every action resulted in a behavior that surprised me; negatively.

Is it possible to automatically attach a property to a heading creating using C-S-RET or M-S-RET?

I do like to have a CREATED property on all tasks so I can purge them when they've stayed too long in the list.

After many years, after many processes, after many tools, some things that still elude me and I struggle with in task management:

  1. what is really a task vs what’s an idea
  2. however good at filtering the tasks you get, there will always be more tasks than time and/or energy
  3. instead of looking at the remaining tasks, there are no easy ways (or tool support) to help celebrate the completed ones

Does anyone know what happened with the Space Gremlin app? https://www.spacegremlinapp.com

I can’t find it in the Mac App Store. And I don’t seem to see it in the list of apps I bought either even if I do have the email.

In the last few days I had to use quite a bit a diff tool on my macOS.

  1. bbdiff sort of worked but didn’t feel intuitive
  2. FileMerge (through opendiff) felt like the beginning of macOS.
  3. Kaleidoscope felt the most intuitive and friendly.

I haven’t tried vimdiff as I don’t know if it works on folders. I should though.

I’m considering upgrading to Kaleidoscope 4, but the list of new features and the transition to subscription are not very convincing.

How do people wear glasses and headphones? Honest question.

If I manage to put the temples under the cups, it hurts. If temples go above the cups, the angle is wrong.

Besides not working, what frustrates me further is there’s absolutely no way to tell what features they support.

It’s beneficial to have a single connector. But having a standard to communicate what features they support and with what qualities it will make them really useful and friendly. https://social.lol/@andycarolan/112237460262692817

After losing some edits of files in between and , tonight I have added a save-on-focus-lost to Emacs:

(add-hook 'focus-out-hook ‘org-save-all-org-buffers)

The simplicity to accomplish this result is incredible. Similar things can be accomplished in too.

Modern editors have to expose configuration flags for such features. Which are indeed easier to use if present, but less configurable and less composable.

Here’s what I’ve discovered while playing with Command-Tab on macOS:

  1. Cmd-1, Cmd-ArrowUp, Cmd-ArrowDown: shows all the windows of the selected app in Command Tab
  2. Cmd-Q: quits the app
  3. Cmd-H: hides the app

Surprisingly, Cmd-M doesn’t do anything. (I was expecting to minimize).

Any other tips & tricks?

I use a Google Workspace (something) with my domain and Google Photos.

Google is changing something about the paid storage. That has impact on Google Photos.

Documentation on how to get more space is absolutely impossible to read. I'm really concerned that this means I will lose all the photos stored in Google Photos.

Productivity increases with the level of customization you are making in the tools you are using most often.

The downside is that the more used to these customizations you get, the more lost you'll feel when
using a system that is not configured as yours.

Simple example: create a new binding in or . This is not only very common but
also very encouraged. After getting used to that, connect to a remote server.

I am a bit confused by the advice on training I'm reading about.
On one side, there are studies saying to avoid training to failure. (this applies to non-hypertrophy training).
On the other hand, others say that endurance training requires sets to failure.

Question for #Emacs users & experts:

I have tried to use replace-regexp to replace ) at the end of
a set of lines with B).

For the matcher I entered: )$.
For the replacement I entered B)

And it did not work. Why?

(I tried the second time entering B) as a replacement and it worked though)
