If an MP or MSP is elected on a Political Party ticket and then change allegiance to another Party they should be forced to :
Stand down and call a bye-election...
Repay ALL election expenses incurred by the original political party during their original election campaign...
Candidates are usually elected because they stand for the beliefs of a particular Political Party...so the voters have not got the representation they initially voted for...
@alexlac51 I'd prefer it if they were elected for what they themselves believe and wanted to achieve for their constituents. I'd prefer political parties to be banned from election campaigns and Thier funding severely restricted.
The problem with parties is that apparatchiks control them and who gets selected/elected. See both Tory and Labour party today for a collection of yes people.
Where is the independent voice on behalf of the constituent.
