One of the things I've really enjoyed about @longplay is the prompt to re-listen to albums from long ago. This week has been Ben Lee's "Awake is the New Sleep”. (https://album.link/au/i/1576171140)

It's funny, because it is a bit of a lumpy album (Pitchfork gave it a 2.9 which I think is harsh), but it brings me back viscerally to a particular time in my life.

This is your reminder to go back and listen to music from important times in your life. And to support great indie apps.

The National Party are trying to create a law and order campaign by soliciting stories of regional crime.

I submitted a story about how I saw a man lying in the middle of the footpath shouting obscenities into his phone and how I was concerned that taxpayer funding was supporting an unhealthy lifestyle.

Hey @nighthawk, I’ve been loving @longplay on my Mac. I have noticed that the playback glitches happen mostly when the player is out of view.

Could it be something to do with playback being on a UI thread which is being deprioritised while the view is hidden?

@nighthawk Can I just say, being able to properly queue albums is something I've been longing for for a long time.

I miss Rdio's queuing mechanic. It worked so well, and Apple music's is a tyre fire.

I'm happy to help out in any way I can. If you flick me some feedback numbers I can see if any of the folks I know on the inside can help with them. I once knew a bunch of folks on the media/playback side of things.

I’ve been really bad at social media the last few months for lots of reasons, most mental health related, but is Mastodon stuck in the same idiotic debate about how the shot on iPhone aspect of Monday’s event is problematic and misleading b/c they used said iPhone alongside pro gear? B/c this is truly the dumbest outrage tech thing I’ve seen in months and months. Like it is genuinely insipid and we’re all dumber for even entertaining it.

    I'm a big fan of social media platforms that let you delete comments on your own posts. I get so many where people are going out of their way to call me out for something that was neither said, implied, or even existed in the near vicinity of my post. It's just like "nah, ur comment priveledged are revoked. Come back when you've worked out some issues lol"

    @decryption Reminds me of watching ops roll out code changes by using a multi-ssh setup to run the rpm install simultaneously on all 9 servers.

    Installed macOS Sonoma beta this weekend to try out the changes to . Can confirm that this lets me add support to @longplay for the Mac. The previous way only worked through Catalyst and caused the Music app to spawn as soon as you start playing, which was hideous, but this now works independently and support AppKit. Woot woot.

    @nighthawk Hmmm yeah – comparing wallclock time to playback time might be helpful. Otherwise a temporary “ITS HAPPENING!" button which triggers sampling of some description (even if it's load average, memory pressure, active process, UI visibility whatever)

    That might help narrow things down, either for you or to add to the FB.

    @nighthawk Light glitches after 2 tracks. I'm multitasking with Slack, Safari and VS Code sitting on top of Longplay. Playback through a Topping D10B at 44.1kHz (though honestly I thought I had it higher)

    When I give Longplay focus, the glitches abate for a bit. As you said, there are console logs for coreaudiod and RemotePlayerService.

    @decryption Huh. I did not realise Audinate were Australian. I’m working in community radio at the moment and working on slowly rolling Dante out through our tiny studio.
