Excited to see the launch of the Library of Congress's South Asian Digital Collection, which centralies access to the many collections of digitized books, journals, manuscripts that had been dispersed throughout that enormous institution. https://blogs.loc.gov/international-collections/2024/04/now-online-south-asian-digital-collection/

Looking back at this poll from Nov. 2023, things didn't turn out like many of us thought!

The kaleidoscopic reverence that is the Calatrava pavilion of the Milwaukee Art Museum, on a winter's afternoon. A space that is always awe-filled, always grounding.

Is there any Barbès love on here (besides my own)? As a non-NYer, the Barbes weekly email calendar makes me restless and full of longing. So many amazing musicians in the same place.

It was the most Milwaukee night ever: A Krampus parade that ended with a party in the old Pabst brewery. The party featured a Krampus-costumed polka band with tuba and accordion, playing (Milwaukee’s own) Violent Femmes and classic oompah tunes, vegan brats and beer, and the Greenbay Packers game on a big screen above the bar.

A Krampus creature with many horns, huge monstrous face, furry garb and a primitive broom, sauntering down a cobbled street at night with onlookers gawking.

Will somebody please tell these guys that the “working” part of “working from home” is not “nonstop cat entertainment”?

Looking down at a black cat on a wood floor, the cats bright round eyes burning with intent to get attention.

Milwaukee’s turn for smoke-filled air. The US Bank highrise building—usually visible here from the bus, now invisible.

This handsome fellow visited my porch this weekend (Milwaukee WI USA)--the likes of which I haven't seen before. iNaturalist couldn't pinpoint the species but similar beetles looked possibly unfriendly to trees (borers). Anyone have tips on what it is?

Closeup of a black-ish beetle with white stripes on thorax and abdomen and long beefy, reddish-brown antennae and legs. It was about 1" long.

@mzyw Yes—that must be it. The appearance, geography and timing match, as you point out. Plus several spruce trees are nearby. Thank you!

@mzyw Nice! My husband and I moved here about 8 years ago and love it. It a lovely place, quite under-appreciated. Not many of us seem to be on Mastodon, however!
