PDF is not an appropriate format for ebooks!

Let readers use their ereader/ereader software to format the book in an appropriate way for their eyes and preferences and brain and screen size by releasing your book as an ePub.

My big issue with PDFs as ebooks is they're formatted for print or a particular screen size. Designed for phone screens? Pages too damn small for tablet or desktop reading. Designed for print or desktop reading? Unreadable on tablet or phone unless you zoom in and constantly scroll side to side 🙄

Designed for tablet? Yeah, I could use that, but I'm stuck with the font size they specify and I'm old and half blind, so, fuck that.

ePub. Only ePub. Reflowable text, font, font size, and colours that suit me. Fuck yes.

It was the norm to read the damn rules and lurk for a while to get your head around the culture of the place.

Yes, I'm old. Perhaps that's why fedi is majority . We've done this kind of thing before and it's not that big of a deal.

So I'm rewatching Teen Wolf, and I used to write a lot (like a metric shit ton) of Teen Wolf fic, and I keep having these moments where upon rewatching a decade later I'm like 'I can't believe I wrote that pairing, that absolutely doesn't appeal to me/doesn't make sense, they have no chemistry/🤮'

I also watched the latest Strange New Worlds ep last night (the Lower Decks crossover), and I was thinking today how much I wanted there to be more Boimler and Spock interaction, so I could write some Boimler/Spock fic, because for no reason at all, I wanted to do that.

Then it hit me. I'm so fucking spoiled with Supernatural, which has a juicy slash ship served up on a fucking platter, with the epic interaction and the epic interpersonal shit right there on the screen Every Fucking Episode, that I'm apparently way out of the common fandom practice of making cute boys fuck just because you can, even if they barely interact on screen, or seem to have no chemistry, or sometimes make you want to barf 🤷‍♂️

No wonder I haven't found a new fandom since Supernatural ended, I've gotten soft. Time to flex some muscles I haven't used in years and make cute boys fuck just because I can. Especially when Spock/Boimler could be a thing, and it doesn't make me want to barf (on the contrary, it's giving me all sorts of positive feels).

    Once upon a time, worked exactly the same way they work on , except there wasn't a visibility setting, instead you had to manually put 'DM' at the beginning of a tweet.

    Yep, it was easy AF for your intended DMs to accidentally go public 🤣

    If you notice, DM stands for 'DIRECT Message', not 'PRIVATE Message'. There should be no expectation of explicit privacy in a direct message - it simply goes directly to the mentioned users, not privately, and as on early twitter, it's possible for user error to fuck it up.

    I am once again asking that folks tag things here. I know nobody does it on bird site but that doesn’t mean not doing it is a good habit to bring with you here! I hate the idea that “curating your online experience” could mean only ever interacting with people who only like the exact same things you do and only discuss topics you’re comfortable with, and having to unfollow/mute/filter friends who might sometimes post a thing I don’t want to see makes me feel sad.

    @samikelsh filters work on non-hashtag words, however - I filter an epic crapton of stuff I don't want to see without hashtags and it just works.

    Hashtags aid discoverability, and there are many reasons one might not want their post to be discoverable, insisting people become discoverable for filtering reasons isn't necessary.

    @serenade @geraineon squidgeworld.org runs on the same software as AO3, so it'll be familiar and easy to use. ToS is pretty much the same.

    It's much smaller though and run by like, one guy.

    While the archive as it is is newish, squidge has been around as a fandom entity/host for years and years so I wouldn't worry about it going poof any time soon.
