Sometimes kids listen to music uncritically because it isn’t written for them. This is probably a good thing.

For instance, I just came across the song “Too Close,” and realized it was COMPLETELY over my head and I hadn’t heard it in…25 years?

Looking back, I can’t believe my parents let my siblings let me listen to all that 😂🤷🏾‍♂️

Firefox 124.0.2 was released 11 days ago. Librewolf got bumped the day after and yet the flathub version is still on 124.0.1.

I'm seriously starting to consider moving away from the atomic (immutable) desktop so i can install release and beta versions of the browsers i alternate between and not have to rely on forks 😄

@pjol @popey LibreWolf on Flathub is maintained by the LibreWolf community. If they are not automating nor actually maintaining their app, that doesn’t have to do with Flatpak or Flathub—they just… haven’t done it.

Wondering how hard (and how terrible) it would be to produce an Android app in CI based on Moshidon that just treats my server as a special first class citizen. 🤔 Like, automatically open links to it, default when signing in, etc. like the Mastodon app does with mastodon.social.

Was thinking about this discussion about portals. I suspect that we'er going to need an "AI" portal in order to manage connections to AI chat services. I'm not sure how one would design such a thing. I had envisioned an app that I could write that lets me take notes of a phone call and then use local generative AI setup to send and receive using a specific "generate summary" or something specific.

This lets us use some of the utilitarian parts of gen AI.

@sri Android has an API for “assistants” which sounds similar tbh. Maybe that would be a good place to look at for ideas/drawbacks?

I wanted an electronics project and also wanted a dedicated music player so I'm solving both with the same purchase.

@killyourfm convinced me so I picked up this old iPod video/classic on eBay. I'm giving it a bit of a charge then I'm going to see what all needs replacing. Hopefully it's functional just rough because I'd like to use it as I go.

Location services in are eerily precise. As in, to a few metres. Even when tunnelling all traffic through a Wireguard VPN exiting in a different country.

As someone still a bit scarred by Enemy of the State even 25 years later, that freaks me out.

And a cursory search has not reassured me much. It uses Mozilla location services, that much is clear, but how does it still provide such a precise location when traffic is tunnelled?

@axx Mozilla Location Service uses nearby Wi-Fi SSID names to help geolocate, and this is an explicit opt-in during initial setup.

@fallenvalkyrie I don't really see F-Droid as sideloading, though I guess it technically is considered that? To me, sideloading is like… going to a website and downloading and installing an arbitrary app. So you'd sideload F-Droid because it's outside the default store, but then going forward, installing things from F-Droid is just installing them. Idk, it's a bit fuzzy, I guess.
