@joelanman I've found Marvel movies in general to be formulaic garbage for a few years now. Guardians, though, was the last bastion of originality. That's so sad to hear.

It has been brought to my attention by a number of you that comparing the penis brains at the Spanish Football Federation to Neanderthals is patently unfair to Neanderthals.

I just wanted to state for the record that I agree wholeheartedly and apologise profusely for any offense caused to actual Neanderthals who, I’m sure, would have been appalled by the behaviour of the knuckle-draggers at the Spanish Football Federation.

@aral Unrelated fun fact: Neanderthal DNA persists in the human lineage today, as recent advanced genetic tech has shown we actually interbred.

We're all neanderthals (sort of). The Spanish Football Federation folks are just creepy assholes.

Apropos of nothing—a company may hypothetically find themselves between a rock and a hard place when said company has little-to-no resources to invest in a framework but relies on revenue from enterprise customers depending on that framework.

In fact, this hypothetical company may even publicly overstate the resources they are investing in said framework to protect that revenue.

I’m glad this is not what is happening.

What were (or are) your biggest challenges while learning JavaScript? Some things that come to mind for me and my own experience...

  • Tutorials that assume I already knew a bunch of stuff
  • Lots of foo and bar
  • Trying to build things that were too big, getting stuck, and giving up
  • Passive/aggressive or incomplete answers on StackOverflow
  • Lots of "just use {tool}" type tutorials
  • Anything that starts with "Just... {open up terminal and}"

With Google Domains shutting down, I was looking into transferring to Wordpress Domains, but they “don't support transfers of premium domains” which sadly hicks.design is. Other domains are hosted with names.co.uk, but maybe I should at other options? Any recommendations?

“What’s your solution then?” Is one of those lazy rhetorical tricks to discredit any criticism of a complex problem.

Like, no, I will not come up with an easy solution to capitalism over a couple of social media posts. But expecting that any anti-capitalist must have a ready-to-use solution to everything they criticize is just a convenient method to shut down that criticism and cement capitalism and “inevitable” or even “natural”, to make even the idea of a different system seem impossible and not worth thinking about.

Although I do really like working with Netlify, I need to stop using it for everything.

I spent ages faffing with serverless functions, scheduled functions, background functions and npm dependencies over the past couple of weeks.

I've just recreated the same setup on a PHP server in about 30 minutes and it works much smoother.
