We really don’t make enough of the fact that you don’t need JS to make a nice website. Just HTML and CSS

And, whatever most programmers say about them, HTML and CSS are absolutely much more accessible to learn than JS ever has been or will be

Not trying to call out anyone in particular, I see a lot of people doing this, but I'm really curious and would like to understand this better.

Folks who use vague alt text with your images ("a funny book cover", "photo of me outside"), what is your thought process? Is the image description intended for sighted people? Or maybe your admin made alt text mandatory? Or maybe that really does seem sufficient.

Trying to understand human psychology a bit here, boosts for reach are very much appreciated.

When you post an image without alt text, and someone replies with the image description for you to use, what is your typical reaction?

@stefan it’s not happened since I follow @PleaseCaption who privately reminds me right away before anyone else. Plus being actually able to edit a post is superb. This has made writing alt text mostly a default action (I forget and there is some bug with audio that my text disappears when I upload an icon)

Hmmm, must admit that adding the ActivityPub to a WordPress site is officially slick. First effort with our @oeglobal podcast site https://voices.podcast.oeglobal.org

First changed all old posts ti a new user named "voices", enabled plugin, and boom! Off the races. Follow @voices

We use Blubrry PowerPress, my first test was just a post, not an episode, but getting ready to publish one ASAP. I was curious to see if an audio link is rendered in the post.

My parent theme does not have an audio post format, but would be easy to add in my child theme.

Does not look like an audio block in source, but there is metadata in an "itemscope" div (swimming outside my tech level here) .

Have a new episode to post today will see how it federates out. Thanks

I go beyond nostalgia-- those mid to late 2000 Northern Voice gatherings in Vancouver were influential foundational career experiences. To confer not to pimp your books or project slide decks, but to sit together and openly jam minds.

Those network ties are living now with folks like @boris @rtanglao
