Greetings, #comrades. I’m an IT manager and #sysadmin, a #PowerShell developer, #writer, #hacker, #APRS enthusiast (W1DNS), and I’m sure I have other talents, too. :mimi: :cash: :carter: :chloe_basket:

How do you make a modern website? Like this. No JavaScript, no databases, no frameworks. Just plain, simple, accessible, and fast HTML. You’d be surprised what you can get for $5/month.

    She’s sick, she can’t walk, and she won’t eat — not even a giant dish of treats. It’s time. This will be the last photo of her.

    Fortunately, she likes to sleep. She’ll have a lot of time to do that now.

    Farewell, Mimi. (June 2006 - April 2, 2024) :mimi:

    After careful consideration (and hearing a few nice friends of mine joined Threads), I’ve decided it wasn’t worth it to empower Meta, and I’ve signed the Fedipact. Sorry, friends. Join Mastodon for real. :fedi: :mastodon: :antifa:

    The United States Postal Service is currently funded solely by weird private colleges sending unrequested brochures to high school sophomores.

    Bless their hearts.

    @hotdogsladies Don’t forget about putting supermarket circulars in every mailbox. Oh, and giving apartment dwellers ads for septic companies and window replacement.

    Mimi had to go to the vet because she's sniffly, but the rest of the day was a lazy Saturday for her... just like every other day of the week. :mimi:

    If I ever launch a DNS conference it’ll be called RESOLV.CONF

    colin,
    @colin@colincogle.name avatar

    @jpmens I think your conference sounds great, but I’m going to make a competing conference called systemd-resolved that’ll have the same speakers and more, but be unpopular.

    No delonghi, I don't want a link to a goddamned YouTube video to tell me how to descale my espresso machine.

    I want a three step text answer. JFC why is this so hard?

    colin,
    @colin@colincogle.name avatar

    @WagesOf Me too. If I’m laying in bed, I can’t watch a video, like and subscribe, or support your sponsor by using code UNNCSRY for my first month free.

    By the way, the answer is white vinegar. Flush with water afterwards.

    Rejoice, network operators. Windows 11 will be joining the rest of the world soon in supporting CLAT, , and natively. (Currently, CLAT only works on cellular connections.)

    Supporting two IP versions has been a pain we’ve had to live with for over a decade, but this will allow network operators to forcibly disable clients’ IPv4 stacks via DHCP/RA, finish switchovers, and run true or networks.

    We’re one big step closer to killing “legacy IP” for good.

    @adamsdesk I use one of Linode’s $5/month “Nanodes”. You can use any cloud provider, or even an old computer or Raspberry Pi if you can get a reasonably static IP address. (Domain sold separately.)
