I cannot unsee that naked body of his streaking from his studio during commercial break across the KGB hall and into the bathroom one day in the 90s lmao.

He often did radio in the nude. Man was he a truly unique character.

They should have a literal rating for Level 1, 2 or 3 charging when you buy it. MOST of these only handle level 2 charging at 80A. I highly doubt there’s many if any that can do Level 3 and not cause magic smoke to appear, but I could be wrong as I haven’t looked at them since I bought a SyncWire adapter for Level2 charging at Tesla stations.

After what we went through as a Nation dealing with this until the Keating–Owen Act of 1916 and the Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 were passed, it’s sad Federal enforcement is being handed down to states for this.

Without an official “Declaration of War” by either side, active troops can and have in the past been deployed to warring counties.

Perfect example: The Korean War.

China sent tens of thousands of “volunteers” from their Army to fight the Americans in the Korean war. They weren’t just volunteering though, they were fighting without an official Declaration of War. America, still cocky from WW2 and heavily under the influence of McCarthyism didn’t care either way.

Americans suffer a form of collective amnesia about the Korean conflict for many reasons, but the Chinese PRC has had a disdain for US for it ever since.

So yes, assuming no Country officially Declares war as a result of the action, any Country can send in troops into the fight. It’s a fools game as to what will be the result though.

Grocer Monopoly

comador,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

Depends on where you live. It would be a 100% monopoly on groceries in various parts of the US where they reside. A monopoly doesn’t need to be national for it to be one.

No, electric vehicle sales aren’t dropping. Here’s what’s really going on (www.cnn.com)

You’d be forgiven for thinking the American market for EVs is collapsing. But in the last quarter of 2023, EV sales were up 40% from the same quarter a year before, according to Cox Automotive. In fact, EV sales in the United States hit a record last year, topping 1 million for the first time....

comador,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

I’d never owned a KIA and recently bought a EV6 for $40,000US after getting solar at home. It’s honestly the first KIA I’ve actually liked.

Blessing i disguise really.

Anytime you need more lumber, portal there just spawn him to go rampaging through the forest and finish him off easily whilst picking up all the free wood.

comador,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

I guess it depends on how you do it.

Personally, I make a base UNDER Elder and do maintenance tasks there while Elder rampages. His attacks to minimal damage to anything close to the roof, but that is it. When I am done, I go get some wood, let him live if I can and come back later for more.

Opera, Vivaldi and Brave are descent alternatives.

EDIT:

Vivaldi (based on Opera, but FOSS and not Chinese) is still good.

I didn’t realize Brave inserted referral codes, TIL.

comador,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

I only listed Opera because Vivaldi’s based on it, but that’s about where it ends. Vivaldi and FF are the only two I use tbh.

comador,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

I only listed Opera b/c Vivaldi is based on it:

en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vivaldi_(web_browser)

Vivaldi is absolutely a descent FOSS product, but will agree with the Opera sentiment and have edited my post more accordingly.

Albertsons and Kroger have been doing this everywhere and Kroger has their eye on acquiring Albertsons as a result.

If successful, a joint merger between Albertsons and Kroger would monopolize Grocery stores and they do NOT result in lower prices in any way shape or form. Proven fact (see Albertsons acquisition of VONS etc).

The government needs to get their anti-monopoly crap together and stop this madness.

comador,
@comador@lemmy.world avatar

Kroger argued it in the article:

In contrast, Kroger and Albertsons Companies merging will bring lower prices to more customers, strengthen and create good-paying union jobs, and bring more fresh, affordable food to more communities,” the company said in an email.

Ukraine wants to buy the Turkish fifth-generation fighter jets KAAN and already knows where to use them, states the Ambassador of Ukraine to Türkiye, Vasyl Bodnar.

The ambassador has reported that this is not a new idea; negotiations started before the war. Ukraine has several companies with different experiences in engine design. Bodnar also clarifies that there is a kind of consortium of Ukrainian companies competing for this engine with other international and domestic manufacturers.

“However, Ukraine has experience and a good partnership label, and we can quickly produce equipment with the characteristics necessary for this aircraft. Creating such a project will also bring significant benefits to the Turkish side. Having its own production based on new technologies is progress not only in strengthening security and defense but also in competitiveness in the markets,” the ambassador says.

Sounds about right: Vizio the throw away brand. Horrible warranty terms, they refuse to repair them even if you offer to pay and completely unrepairable yourself.

Depends on the TV.

Many older mid to high end models had 4+ ports and it sucks you can rarely find a new one with 4 anymore.

My circa 2008 Sony Bravia has 6 HDMI ports that all still work.

Commander: Russia stops using 'human wave' attacks in Avdiivka, instead deploys small assault groups (kyivindependent.com)

Russia has stopped using its infamous "human wave" attacks in Avdiivka, instead deploying small assault groups supported by aviation to probe Ukrainian defenses, Dmytro Riumshyn, the commander of Ukraine's 47th Separate Mechanized Brigade, said in an interview published on Feb. 12.

In San Diego, big pharma is now heavily investing into AI to do a lot of the chemical compound matching that was traditionally done by people like chemists and biotech employees too.

More money for the company, less paychecks to dispense.
