LOL. The IRS is piloting a new program to let some people file taxes directly and for free, planning to expand the program over time.

Intuit and some Republicans oppose this and call the plan a "solution in search of a problem."

I don’t think they understand that phrase. 🙄

i won't be dealing at confuzzled this year due to their poor organization. (long post)

cfz split dealer reg from main reg, but didn't announce table reg opened in their dealer announcement channel, so I missed out on a table due to their “first come first served” rule however they are also "curating" / gatekeeping their DD applications and rejecting dealers whom they deem not fit for their dealers den

it's not a "first come first served" process if you also reject people you don't think are fit. it's contradictory.

i only received a rejection notice about my table when chasing them after months of waiting for this curation process to end.

they also announced they have 31% of their dealers den filled with their own staff (how can you run a convention and run a table?) and staff +1s

confuzzled also require you to be fully paid before you can apply for a table and do not offer refunds if you are unsuccessful, so I am now forced to attend without a table despite all this

the dealers den is arguably the largest event of any con and brings the convention a LOT of money selling table space, their own con merch and sponsor tickets for early access.

it's really disappointing to see this treatment of dealers again and again.

to all the fursuit makers, writers, artists and creatives who always make the dealers den at any con such an amazing and inspirational space: you deserve better than this

A few years ago the boyf bought “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” on Amazon Prime. It had several other Christmas-themed shorts tacked onto the end.

After watching it tonight we noticed those shorts are … just gone.

Now in this case we don’t really care because the shorts were pretty lame. But … that’s still pretty f’ing shady.

And that’s why in this streaming age, anything I care about I still try to buy on CD or DVD or Bluray. 😤

I consider this suburban enshittification. A year ago this sidewalk bordered an undeveloped area with trees and grasses and tons of wild sunflowers. Then they plopped in a housing development and now it's blocked off with a quarter mile of oppressively boring wood barrier and bare dry sand.

So Patron rebranded again... Look, I think a lot of the hate towards "simplified logos" is unfounded, but I did agree that the last time Patreon rebranded it was a huge downgrade. Not sure how but they managed to do even worse than that this time.

This ad poster for the iMac is utterly perfect. Perfect photo, perfect slogan (the period at the end is key — “Yum” without the period wouldn’t quite play the same way), perfect relative scale and placement of the elements. Even the kerning is perfect — Apple Garamond never looked better or more timeless.

I’ll hold off judgement until if/when I can get an account; I joined the waitlist awhile ago but apparently a bunch of other folks are suddenly getting in. So, so far getting a strong “We’re cooler than you” influencer vibe that’s not endearing.

Aside from that I’m just skeptical about banking on another for-profit corporate-owned platform from the same guys who set Twitter on its fatal path even before Musk took over. They’ll throw us all overboard again when it suits them.
