I'll be seriously writing in Taylor Swift's name on the presidential ballot this November. Biden is shit for signing the TikTok ban and Trump is gross.
I urge everyone here to do the same. Only vote for write-in candidates or third-party.
i need to ask someone at google a question about a weird setting on my account that i dont want to click if it's gonna do something bad, but there is simply no way to, like, speak to a human. not by email or chat or anything.
I’m looking to connect with other web developers & iOS developers! I’ve heard there’s a great developer presence over here so let’s see how this goes! #webdev#webdevelopment#iosdev#apple
It's funny seeing all these tech people being so against AI and LLMs. I think they are afraid of something, but I don't know what. I'm pretty sure people were once afraid of automobiles and airplanes in the horse and buggy days.
I still can't believe I “know" how to write Swift code now for the most part… after years of trying to learn #iOSDev, it finally clicks! It's just a completely different world from #webdev which I’ve been proficient with for quite a while.
I love this! While I love domain names, I completely agree with @cabel's take. Until ALL MAJOR BROWSERS can resolve blockchain domains without third-party extensions or proxy nonsense, blockchain domains are inherently useless. It's a big big gamble to buy them right now. If you want to invest in domain names, you are way better off buying DNS-based domains. https://social.panic.com/@cabel/112288904959273392
@below the style attribute overrides the fill attribute in the browser, I believe. Makes since that Finder and Xcode would ignore it since they are not browsers.
Always weird to see Android get specifically named in iOS.
Also it’s kind of wild that Apple finally found a way to bring FaceTime to more devices. It was originally announced as an open standard but a patent troll shut down those plans. Now Apple has sort of found a way around it.
@jorin BTW, I love the article you wrote about writing your own SSG to learn the ins-and-outs of how they all work, plus you get the benefit of catering it to your exact specifications and needs. I think it was a blast when I wrote one in Python from scratch a few months ago…
@cory Ya know, a robots.txt doesn't actually prevent bots from scraping your site, right? It is basically just requesting the bot to not do it, but it is within its means and rights to ignore it. Yes, it is unethical though.
The funny thing about this is hands are even hard for human artists to draw, so it makes complete sense that “ai" would struggle with it too. https://mastodon.art/
Flyleaf is a “read-later” app that displays saved articles from the web in a meticulously designed reading view, without popups, ads or other distractions.
The distinguishing feature of Flyleaf is its unparalleled book-style pagination. You can read articles page by page instead of scrolling vertically.
@matthewcassinelli Social media websites mainly, but I have used it to install the PWA for a little utility I built where you can paste a block of text and it extracts all the URLs and renders them as a list of clickable links.
Because of the Netlify controversy this week, I’m starting to migrate some of my websites to regular ol' shared web hosting at Porkbun for the time being. It probably won't be a permanent change, but it's a step towards reducing my reliance on VC-backed third-party services that have extreme amounts vendor lock-in.
@MikeBeas I feel like that hardware focus ring would be good as an optional accessory like those third-party iPhone hardware lenses you can buy.
And why do you think the Action Button is a bad idea? It's customizable. My non-tech savvy wife uses it to launch the camera and she loves it. It's nice to have the option to make it do whatever you want instead of just a stupid mute switch.
@JPEGuin I tested it again in Firefox and Chrome for Android and it looks correct. You should be good. Samsung Internet must be behind and is probably too small of a market share to worry about haha.
