Ya know I think I've dropped just about enough breadcrumbs to get everyone started on the UK scene though there are still a lot of great (or at least popular) names I haven't gotten to but I want to close with one of my favorites from just before most of the current wave - a huge track from Kevin Haynes Grupo Elegba. Haynes is a serious Santeria devotee and his music blends spiritual jazz, and West styles; when the kora drops at about 8:30 🤯

@mrcompletely thx. If not known already, you should try the 3rd album by Kora Jazz Trio with Djeli Moussa Diawara (Mory Kante's half-brother) on Kora. I later produced him, and there are a few interesting Jazz covers (So What, Caravan...).
He uses a unique 32-string Kora (usually 21 to 24) and plays with full hands, not 2-4 fingers.

Us3 - "Cruising" (1993)

The debut album from British jazz-rap group Us3 really holds up.

Its mixture of jazz and hip-hop, with material from popular jazz musicians of the 20th century being reimagined, is such a cool concept. And all the samples are from old Blue Note Records classics.

@greymatter @Defiance the glorious AcidJazz times, with a big UK dance scene, but many others from Guru to UFO. Spent so much time on this music style...

@Defiance @mrcompletely @greymatter Indeed Buckshot LeFonque - 2 very good albums. There's a rarity, if you can find it, it's the first Red+Hot. Have a post on my main blog.

Crypto is not the key to Black generational wealth
Cryptocurrency investing is more likely to widen the White-Black wealth divide, studies show

“Crypto investing is extremely high risk,” Algernon Austin, director for Race and Economic Justice at the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR), said during an interview about cryptocurrency investing and building Black wealth. “As an investment, it’s closer to gambling.”
