From @AricToler
We found posts on a public Discord server from Jack Teixeira going back to February 25, 2022 - the day after Russia's full invasion of Ukraine - with information from classified intelligence reports.

@sophietkd I copied his birdsite post verbatim, without the Twitter link-shortener (apart from "From @AricToler") so I guess you can take it up with Bellingcat.

I was frustrated by the same thing, but the essence was in the post. I did manage to page down and take a screen grab before the nagging took up most of the screen though.

Oh, and thanks for the unsolicited advice 👍

Not gonna lie gang, Elon may have accidentally created the perfect Twitter.

With the help of a single chrome extension that blocks all verified users, he has unwittingly developed a way for all the people you don't want to see to self-select into your block list.

Instantly all the nazis and right wingers and Elon fans and racists have blocked themselves on my behalf, as well as all advertisements.

Twitter is actually pretty rad now that the garbage has shadowbanned itself.

davep,

@rodhilton and blocking all those users dramatically increases CPU overhead for Twitter. A veritable double whammy!

Hi friends. Who’s not muted me yet? I got almost 700 mother fuckers here. So, where are you at? Feel free to respond or ignore. I’m watching closely. Going on a troll fest and bot fest really soon.

davep,

@VidmoOreda on Mastodon? Weird. I'm mainly seeing daft jokes.

davep,

@VidmoOreda aww, shucks!

Musk tried to trick people into believing that celebrities like @KingJames and @StephenKing paid for Twitter Blue.

They did not and Musk got called out on it.

Musk has now copped to it and admitted he has paid for James, King and a handful of others to keep their blue checks

    davep,

@juddlegum he didn't "pay", he just got some underling to attribute them the blue tick.

    An oldie:

An elderly man living alone in Nelson wanted to plant his annual tomato garden, but it was very difficult work, since the ground was hard. His only son, Paul, who used to help him, was in prison. The old man wrote a letter to his son and described his predicament:

Dear Paul, I am feeling pretty sad, because it looks like I won’t be able to plant my tomato garden this year. I’m just getting too old to be digging up a garden plot. I know if you were here my troubles would be over.. I know you would be happy to dig the plot for me, like in the old days. Love, Dad

A few days later he received a letter from his son.

Dear Dad, Don’t dig up that garden. That’s where the bodies are buried. Love, Paul.

At 4 a.m. the next morning, CID officers and local police arrived and dug up the entire area without finding any bodies. They apologized to the old man and left. That same day the old man received another letter from his son.

Dear Dad, Go ahead and plant the tomatoes now. That’s the best I could do under the circumstances.

    davep,

The only cow in a small town in England stopped giving milk.

The town folk found out they could buy a cow in Scotland quite cheaply.

They brought the cow from Scotland.

It was wonderful, produced lots of milk every day and everyone was happy.

They bought a bull to mate with the cow to get more cows, so they'd never have to worry about their milk supply again.

They put the bull in the field with the cow but whenever the bull tried to mount the cow, the cow would move away.

No matter what approach the bull tried, the cow would move away from the bull and he was never able to do the deed.

The people were very upset and decided to go to the vet, who was very wise, tell him what was happening and ask his advice.

"Whenever the bull tries to mount our cow, she moves away. If he approaches from the back, she moves forward. When he approaches her from the front, she backs off.

If he attempts from the one side, she walks away to the other side."

The Vet rubbed his chin and thought before asking, "Did you by chance, buy this cow in Scotland ?"

The people were dumbfounded, since no one had ever mentioned that they had brought the cow over from Scotland.

"You are truly a wise vet," they said.

"How did you know we got the cow from Scotland?"

The vet replied with a distant look in his eye, "My wife is from Scotland"

    davep,

@VickForcella I think @jerry who is the admin of infosec.exchange got into some sort of "mine is bigger than yours" battle with another instance and we've ended up with something fun like eleven thousand characters, which is great for shaggy dog stories and the like.

I have 2 and hate them both for different reasons. I have a desktop that I hate to sit at. I just realized I don't want a laptop. I want my desktop to be more powerful and I want the peripherals to be able to go to different rooms in my house. I'm thinking like an umbilical, lol.
Is this a thing? Or is it a fever dream sort of idea?

    davep,

@ZeNeece yeah, it's Remote Desktop Protocol. That way you do the hard work on the uber-desktop but can control it from your laptop.

    davep,

@ZeNeece you could use a laptop to RDP into your beast of a desktop.

    davep,

@ZeNeece Maybe get a more techie friend to spec out a new rig, possibly cannibalising bits from your current setup if up to the task.

    davep,

    @ZeNeece something like a... network?

    davep,

@ZeNeece you can use different GPUs, no problem.

What exactly is causing you issues in your work?

BTW, you want SSDs and NVMe to replace older hard drives. It's by far the biggest performance gain.

    davep,

@ZeNeece What do you need for your desktop? More and faster RAM? Beefier GPU and/or CPU? A more powerful power supply unit? Faster and bigger disks?

    What are your bottlenecks?

And you mentioned peripherals. Such as?
