An old employer of mine that I fired was full to the brim of people who genuinely thought that nine women could make a baby in one month.

Like techies we pointed out that nine women could average one baby per month if that what they wanted over nine months but it requires another nine months of planning first.

They didn’t get it. Just kept hiring fixed term contractors to “increase velocity”.

The worst port of it was when my team was just the small internet hippy department that no one took seriously we never had these problems, then we got promoted to “proper department” and lost everything.

deadbeef79000,

The correct usage in this case would be all y’all.

deadbeef79000,

Yo dawg, I heard you like XML over HTTP so I put XML over HTTP in your XML over HTTP.

deadbeef79000,

Urgh. I just sicked in my mouth.

Die in a hole DI frameworks.

I already have an injection ‘framework’ it’s called a constructor. I already have a factory it’s called new

Tesla Lays Off Entire Team Behind Brakes (www.theonion.com)

AUSTIN, TX—In the latest round of layoffs for the company’s struggling automotive division, electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla fired the entire team behind brakes, sources confirmed Wednesday. “As we continue to rightsize the Tesla workforce, we have come to the decision that stopping the car is no longer a critical...

deadbeef79000,

Real Americans just buy a bigger truck and let momentum do its job.

deadbeef79000,

Modern commercial success requires that one thinks of people as things. Things that produce labour or things that produce revenue.

The easier it is for one to think of people as things the better executive one makes.

Naturally thinking of people as things is psychopathy

deadbeef79000,

What does an ordinary person do to combat this?

You can’t debate in good faith: they’re not operating in good faith.

You can’t reason them out of a position they’ve not reasoned themselves into.

I can teach my own children critical thinking, but that’s only a couple of people, there’s a very large number of people out there who soak this stuff up uncritically.

What can we do?

deadbeef79000,

Even the thin blue line is actually red apparently.

deadbeef79000,

Parole checks and home detention and community detention for example.

deadbeef79000,

This is a dog-whistle.

It’s a rounding error amount of the corrections budget, and cost-effective.

Buried in here is criticism of how much is spent on corrections and that we should be spending less (i.e. have poorer quality prisons for inmates and staff).

Remember every tax dollar spent was stolen from businesses and the bourgeoisie.

deadbeef79000,

I assume so, hence “corrections” rather than “incarceration” being the department name ;-)

deadbeef79000,

Unfortunately, that’s something half our ruling elite want to try because it’s an opportunity for a few to make a ton of money.

Fortunately, IIRC, we closed the trial private prison.

deadbeef79000,

“I didn’t think the leopards would eat my face!”

– voters for the face eating leopard party, probably

deadbeef79000,

Killing as many people as possible before they’re eligible for superannuation to eek out another decade before it collapses is just a bonus.

People who happen to already have the poorest health outcomes.

deadbeef79000,

The world needs more politicians like Sanders.

deadbeef79000,

as an EMT

You’re actually trained to administer medication and evaluate its risks.

The cops just want to play Judge Dredd.

CSIS had officer investigated after she reported a superior raped her (www.cbc.ca)

A CSIS officer’s allegation that she was raped repeatedly by a superior in agency vehicles set off a harassment inquiry, but also triggered an investigation into her that concluded the alleged attacks were a “misuse” of agency vehicles by the woman....

deadbeef79000,

All cops eventually become bastards or quit.

I.e. the good apples eventually rot too or get removed from the bushel.

deadbeef79000,

Exactly. This needs to be baselined with aggregate ratings for TV or at least the genre.

deadbeef79000,

I use gnome at 4k and avoided fractional scaling by setting gnome to large text and increasing the ide’s font sizes.

Nice crisp fonts, but annoying settings (but only set once).

deadbeef79000, (edited )

Derp. I’d entirely forgotten about the red guard while writing that. In terms of enforcing the revolution.

…And every other police state for that matter.

Thanks.

deadbeef79000,

Sorry, I wrote that when I was tired.

All police states exist to enforce their own states… Which is a bit of a tautology so just ignore that bit.

deadbeef79000,

Eh, not quite what I was going for.

This is the tyranny that an armed populace is supposed to be protection from.

But thinking about it, an armed protest would be among the first steps.
