There's nothing inherently antisemitic about protesting to end a war. Arresting peaceful protesters on college campuses for civil disobedience is not a great look. Regardless of whether you agree with them or not.

On the flipside, chanting things like "yehuda yehuda," "we're all Hamas," or "Remember the 7th of October! That will happen not one more time, not five more times, not 10 more times, not 100 more times, not 1000 more times, but 10,000 times!" surely is all meant to be pirposely antisemitic.

Holding a sign that reads “Al-Qassam’s next target" with an arrow pointing to a group of Jews isn't anti-war or even anti-zionism. It's fucking crazy is what it is.

So stop strong arming protests. They're normal. Even if they have very fucked up elements in them.

Protestors, you got a 'nazi bar' problem and you should fix it or fuck off. There's no excuse for this shit.

Yes, people engaged in civil disobedience should expect to get arrested. That's part of the tactic.

And at the same time we have a historic approach to campus civil disobedience that leaves a lot more leeway than that.

Partially because experimentation of expressing grass roots power and free speech in protest is healthy learning. Partially because events like Kent State have taught us how quickly authoritarian tactics go wrong in the wrong environment. Partially because not arresting them is a counter tactic de-fanging them.

@TonyStark well there is a tendency of that on the left and I have to admit those of us who were active in ARA or other antifascist groups back in the day helped cement it.

We brought streetfighting to the table. We had rules around it but we always also had a fuck shit up element that I think ended up being longterm culturally ingrained.

My personal view on river to the sea stuff is unpopular with everyone.

Populist slogans mean different things to different people and that's why they're populist slogans. So some people mean nothing more than make life better. Some people mean kill all the Jews. And most people fit into some spectrum in-between those positions.

I can't really generate enough personal interest to interrogate every single person on earth about it. So idc about it.

But since some people do mean it in violent ways and I have no idea how to tell the difference I'm a 'say what you want when you want but I don't want to be friends' type of person.

I've been following this very weird post on my "unprotected" account. The one that sees all the racist, antisemitic, misogynist, homophobic shit the fediverse produces in the normal course of the day.

This shithead makes a set of easily verifiably false allegations to try to get rid of a single user account that catalogs antisemitic content in the fediverse.

I read every post the account ever made yesterday. No truth to this at all.

And it spawns conspiracy comments from other users including accusations that this is an Israeli state actor.

What happens when fediblock is misused to target an account that catalogs, with receipts, antisemitism?

Nothing?

Very strange place yall built here.

What's the difference between this and Shitter other than having fewer people of color and Jews?
