@patrick_h_lauke I sadly missed out on most of the Amiga stuff. I had a friend that had an Amiga. I played some games on it with him as a kid, but I don’t remember much. I know I played Turrican II on the SNES, though hahah.

I'm intrigued to try the Apple Vision Pro, but my uniformed opinion at the moment is that it feels like 3D glasses - a technology that'd be interested in when it doesn't require something extra on my face.

Dammit! The frickin' dishwasher doesn't work. I had all that trouble with it awhile back and managed to fix it myself, but now the problem is that it fills and drains but the main motor doesn't seem to run. There must not be any feedback in the design because the wash timer happily counts down but there's no sound and nothing is happening.

Kind of sick of this GE dishwasher and maybe it's time to just replace the whole thing.

@bigzaphod I just had a Maytag washing machine go out. It was 23 years old. It's survived 3 moves and a flood. I replaced it with another Maytag, but I'm not sure how long the new one will last. It has wifi. Not sure what for, but I don't care to find out hahah.

I need to convert a folder of 600 SVG RGB icons into CMYK (C0,M0,Y0,K100).

SVG supports CMYK colours (so I can easily do a bulk find and replace in a text editor), but Adobe Illustrator and Affinity Designer don't support it. It opens them as a CMYK document, but the artwork has no fill.

Before I create an Illustrator action to convert to CMYK, set the fill to (C0,M0,Y0,K100) and save as PDF, is there a better way I'm missing?

@jonhicks a text editor might be a better solution but in Illustrator I think you can change the document mode via javascript and I think executing a script is recordable? It’s been a while so I could be full of shit.

This is such sad news. Bandcamp is a haven for both artists and fans alike, but being resold after only a year and then losing 50% of the workforce doesn't give me hope for it's future.

@matt Had this problem all the time at my old job with an Intuos Pro. I'd have to restart for it to work again. My ye olde Intuos 4 I have at home doesn't have that problem. I hope they never cut off support for this tablet because I don't know what I'd buy to replace it...

I’m assuming that the reason why every goddamn tech commentator in the world is currently pretending that nobody in the world owns USB-C cables—“OMG! Apple is going to sell so many dongles”—when in reality anybody even remotely likely to buy a new iPhone almost certainly has a bunch of them lying around…

@baldur I have maybe two USB-C cables for other devices I’ve owned, and one is for the Nintendo Switch. Most non-techy people in the US if they’ve never bought an Android phone likely won’t own one and if they do it’s for some random device and won’t put 2 and 2 together. It’s not a reality distortion field. It’s the news media wanting to manufacture an outrage because they can see the complaints coming when non-techy people notice their new phone uses a new cable. It’s all BS, anyway.

@baldur I have an Apple M1 laptop from work. While it can charge with a USB-C cable it didn't come with one but instead comes with a magsafe charging cable, so I never use a USB-C cable. I have a USB-A to C adapter I use if I ever need to plug anything into it which is rare. My remote uses batteries. The only device I own that charges with USB-C is a Nintendo Switch. It's just not that ubiquitous over here. You can buy USB-C cables in most stores here, too. They're labeled as Android cables.

With Google Domains shutting down, I was looking into transferring to Wordpress Domains, but they “don't support transfers of premium domains” which sadly hicks.design is. Other domains are hosted with names.co.uk, but maybe I should at other options? Any recommendations?

@jonhicks Hover is what I use. Been a customer for years. They're not the cheapest, but they don't try to nickel and dime you and provide good support and tools.

@Edent Not sure how well it’ll work in England but it worked in Yellowstone in the 90s. They reintroduced wolves and it dropped the deer population. It also improved the ecosystem in other ways like more tree and shrub growth.
