For a device that claims to be "plug-and-play" on it's product page, I sure spend a lot of time trying to work out why my #Wacom tablet suddenly decided to stop working from one day to the next.
Out of a whim, I decided to get my 10 year old #Cintiq 13HD Companion Hybrid out of storage. #Wacom no longer supports this model, but I got it to run with their oldest driver that supports Windows 11.
I'm not sure what I will use it for, but it was fun trying out the different brushes with #krita . These days I use #Inkscape for most of my graphical design work, but it's nice to have options.

Jetzt habe ich auf dem Rechner #Krita installiert und steuere das Programm mit iPad/Stift über die App #AstropadSlate. Das funktioniert leider nicht gut.

Got a new small Wacom to use with Figma - trying to wean myself from the trackpad for ergonomy sake. Hardware is beautiful, software’s shockingly bad, almost the same as the last time I used it a decade ago.
My microcontroller is actually reading data from the pen now. I need to tweak some of the resistor values (The incoming data is still clipping, and the integrator has some more range it could potentially use).
Currently using the RP2040 onboard ADC, which isn't great in terms of accuracy, and I also have a very small window in which to sample my signal. But I do have a footprint for an external ADC on the pcb, which might improve things.
Seriously Wacom, what wild lapse of judgement in your addled mind made you think it was a smart idea to make an update to generate random punctuation characters everywhere a person taps with their pen?! New one for me #wacom#apple#ventura You can't simply install Wacom tablet drivers on Ventura. The Apple’s setting will have a fit and get you to allow permissions in settings. But they are already on. To get them to work, you have to delete them from the list!
They’ll ask to get back in and then they’ll work.
My favourite thing is to come to the office in the morning and have to spend the first 15 mins working out why my #Wacom tablet no longer connects to my computer.

The #Gnome HIG is actively watering down what once was a desktop environment made exclusively for pixel precise pointing devices (a.k.a. the mouse) to the least common denominator (a.k.a. fat fingers). Who are they designing for? Tablet users? Not professional *nix workstation users doing real work, it seems. #LinuxUsability

Also, try double-clicking with a #Wacom stylus, I dare you 😏 I typically only get 25 to 50% activation success rate here, and I'm not clumsy by any means.
You couldn't invent a more "professional workstation" usecase than #DigitalArt workers. Is also designing UIs for creative professionals & #artists "actively watering down" the desktop, now?
East- #Asian techies, is there a #Linux / #GNOME / #Wayland compatible character recognition input method system that would allow someone to use a #Wacom tablet or touchscreen-capable laptop (or some Linux-compatible device) to write traditional #Chinese "as if writing on paper"?

I think I am just gonna go ahead and design a test pcb for the #wacom pens with a bunch of jumpers and probe points and stuff. From what I have seen, with some luck, that same hardware can probably talk to the #huion, despite me not quite understanding the protocol yet.
