All these HaikuOS screenshots gave me an itch to reconfigure my desktop a bit. Made it more of a lazy man's knockoff of the Haiku/WindowMaker panels.

Out of view is a stubby global menu bar panel in the upper left because I think Apple got that part right.

If governments want to get serious about cybersecurity and cyberwarfare they need to crack down on IoT. I don't mean your average smart home enthusiast's lightbulbs -- I'm referring to the needless internet connectivity of every consumer device plugged into a wall socket: your fridge, your washing machine, dishwasher, television, your car...

This is a national security problem.

I never got one because, although cool, the limited use I'd have done wouldn't justify even the affordable price as I had no mobility or form factor needs.

@amoroso I had one of those first 7" netbooks. It was really durable and the size was very convenient while in school. I even wrote a lot of code on it.

Batteries and throttling were not as good back then, so the battery life was only around 2-3 hours IIRC. Would love a modern version with 8+ hour battery life.

    Apparently USB-A to USB-A cables are forbidden by the USB spec.

    Also apparently the USB spec means NOTHING to smaller vendors like Cisco, who ship these cursed cables as their console cables on some models.

    I also have these "forbidden" cables in USB 3 for some hard drive enclosures.

    @yakkoj Yeah, I got both a unicomp keyboard and a cheapo USB switch that use A-to-A. Superstition but I never plug storage devices into that switch :blobcatgrimacing:
