    The story for my new game is about a going on an epic quest to find some Pumpernickel bread for an ailing grandfather. There is no "big bad", it's just a journey of discovery and exploration (with Diablo II style combat and looting).

    Both fascinating and scary that as ice melts they keep finding millennia old life that can reboot back to life.

    Scientists revived a 46000 year old worm that was frozen in Siberian permafrost. When they brought it back to life, the worm started having babies. Small worms like this are known to have the ability to shut down biological functions to survive.

    if you used to be bad at web design and now you’re pretty good, what helped you get better? I often feel like I’m not improving even though I make a fair number of websites

    @b0rk “Steal Like an Artist” feels like an appropriate reference here. I think starting with a copy makes sense, then you can just tweak it to suit as things evolve.

    @psychicparrot42 there used to be a strong homebrew scene - worked with a guy who made games for it, including getting carts burned, so I guess there is probably at least a lot of unofficial info out there?

    Added a little frost effect to the screen edges when you pick up the ice powerup.. may animate it a bit later, but I've got the rest of the game to make first, so overtly fancy stuff like that will have to wait!

    Wheeeeeeee! Bouncy bouncy letters and trippy tunnel of level transition! #IndieDev #JackDragon

    A GIF of my game, Jack Dragon. A 'ready' message with bouncy bright letters appears, then a blue dragon moves around the screen collecting gems. Once all the gems are gone, another bouncy colourful letter message reads 'goal' and the screen is taken over by a psychedelic tunnel that transitions into the next level.
