Do you struggle with fitted sheets?

Get ‘em on the bed the right way the first time, every time:

When facing the bed, the fitted pocket with the tag in it goes on the right corner closest to you — the bottom right, at the foot of the bed.

It’s that easy. You’re welcome!

@snarkysteff I bet you're one of those magicians who can properly fold a fitted sheet, aren't you

    @acdha wish I could help. Most of my Java was running inside an Oracle database that was already obsolete in 2006

    My 15 year old daughter is looking for dystopian novels. She wants The Hunger Games but she's read that, and Maze Runner and probably all the well-known ones. Suggestions?

    ebooksyearn,

    She is somewhat amusingly looking for male heroes, I think she's tired of the "16-year-old girl saves the world" because she's about to BE a 16-year-old girl and doesn't think there's any way she's saving much of anything

    (Is "ponderous" a negative adjective, necessarily? I just mean it moves like something large and heavy)

    ebooksyearn,
    @ebooksyearn@thepit.social avatar

    @mcc I've always thought it meant big and heavy in a way that makes things difficult so negative but not super negative

    One of my favorite stories about my dad, which only gets better as I realize what went into it, was him taking us to see Bo Jackson

    ebooksyearn,
    @ebooksyearn@thepit.social avatar

    My dad knew almost nothing of sports, didn't really care (though he was a strong supporter when we were playing), but he knew me and my brother loved Bo Jackson. And really, who didn't in the early 90s?

    ebooksyearn,
    @ebooksyearn@thepit.social avatar

    So he took us to an Orioles game at Memorial Stadium. They were playing the Royals, and we had front row left field bleacher seats. Mere feet from one of the greatest athletes US pro sports has ever known

    ebooksyearn,
    @ebooksyearn@thepit.social avatar

    But there is zero chance he had any idea how to do this. He likely didn't even know what position Bo might have played. But he handled it. I don't know for sure, but very likely he called his good buddy Joe, who WAS a sports fan, and told him he wanted to take us to see Bo Jackson, and Joe told him what to do

    ebooksyearn,
    @ebooksyearn@thepit.social avatar

    But for us, we just got to these seats and there was Bo Jackson right in front of us. It was years later that I figured out what must have gone into that. And I don't think I ever really thanked my dad for that

    ebooksyearn,
    @ebooksyearn@thepit.social avatar

    Then my brother got stung by a bee on the inside of his lip because he had a mouth full of Skittles.

    Since we started composting food waste, we’ve been averaging one 10 gallon bag of trash per week, down from two or three. The recycling can is always full, and so is the compost pail. Pretty cool, I hope DC finds a way to turn this pilot into a citywide offering next year. If not, we’ll probably get a commercial compost company to pick up.

    I just heard someone say "chocker block" instead of "chock-a-block." That's a new one to me.

    A chock is a piece or block of wood, and "chock-a-block" is a nautical term "said of two blocks of tackle run so closely that they touch," according to Etymonline.

    https://www.etymonline.com/word/chock-full#etymonline_v_11300

    Surprisingly, it doesn't look like it's from the same "chock" as "chock-full."
