TIL zsh can send itself a SIGALRM regularly by setting TMOUT to a number of seconds. That means you can have a regularly updating prompt that contains the current time.

# Causes zsh to send us a SIGALRM every n seconds  
TMOUT=1  
# Catch the SIGALRM and update the time  
TRAPALRM() {  
 zle reset-prompt  
}

    Today I learned "handiwork" isn't derived from "handy work". It's from old English where a prefix was used to add a sense of something completed. So "iwerk" was completed work, and handiwork is work accomplished by hand.
