Framework Laptop owners, testing welcome and encouraged!

However, please follow @fedora recommendations for reporting back as outlined in "Testing Needed" section of their article.

We're one phase further on development of a full-size SD Expansion Card. We created a video to share the design and architecture tradeoffs that went into it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1Ai5whr8vk

Oh also @OpenComputeDesign you should ping @frameworkcomputer sometime if you're interested in joining the maker program or creating something for the open ecosystem! https://community.frame.work/t/list-of-company-or-individually-driven-projects/18559

@s31bz @OpenComputeDesign If they can ping Matt directly (just @Matt_Hartley) on the thread so I see it, I'll get it added there.

There are a couple of amazing Framework Laptop Mainboard-based gaming handhelds already, but tommybee456's is especially interesting with the deep focus on ergonomics: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MAnyzWsupc

@frameworkcomputer I'm not getting any emails in response from your support or the sign up from the forum. I've checked my spam and there is nothing.

@chrisgerhard Custom email address by chance? @xyz type of situation?

frameworkcomputer,
@frameworkcomputer@fosstodon.org avatar

@chrisgerhard Found the ticket. Yeah, we are sending emails. Looks like our system is getting a 400 - invalid-recipient

Spam notification

The message was delivered, but was either blocked by the user, or classified as spam, bulk mail, or had rejected content. Email Address: chris@thegerhards.com. Code: SpamNotification

We highly recommend protonmail or something as email routing is becoming really stringent.

@chrisgerhard Found your ticket, yeah it is bouncing.

@chrisgerhard I did ask for the bounced message we sent to be tried again.

Please check your firewall/security settings with your provider.

frameworkcomputer,
@frameworkcomputer@fosstodon.org avatar

@chrisgerhard Okay cool, agents have been updated and should be re-sending you the bounced message in addition to the other stuff. Please do not open more tickets, it will slow things down tremendously as tickets have to be caught, merged, etc.

I might be sent to IT purgatory for this, but... I'm happy to confirm that @frameworkcomputer's Ethernet expansion slot works absolutely flawlessly on my M1 MacBook Pro.

@denschub (Psst. Works on some phones, too)

frameworkcomputer,

@denschub True, previous models are subjected to the corner.

Per Phoronix:

"Crap! HDMI Forum Rejects Open-Source HDMI 2.1 Driver Support Sought By AMD"

"The HDMI Forum has rejected our proposal unfortunately. At this time an open source HDMI 2.1 implementation is not possible without running afoul of the HDMI Forum requirements."

We built the world's first 180W USB-C power adapter without realizing it. We just thought the new EPR standard was an obvious win, so we designed an adapter around it for Framework Laptop 16. We now have the adapter in stock in the Marketplace: https://frame.work/products/16-power-adapter?v=FRANCR000B

We’ve reduced the price of our B-stock Factory Seconds systems and now have a Framework Laptop 13 barebones configuration available for under $500 for the first time.

This is the i7-1165G7 model, so it has healthy performance too. Our Factory Seconds systems come without memory and storage, so to reduce the all-in price, we’re making refurbished DDR4 available at half the price of new.

You can pick it up in the Marketplace, or purchase it on our Factory Seconds Kit page. Factory Seconds laptops are currently available in the US, Canada, and Australia. We’ve also posted a video explaining more about what Factory Seconds are and what B-stock looks like.
