"The simple repair is still a wonder. Dell can talk a big game with its concepts and Apple will send massive repair kits to your home, but Framework includes one tool in the box that lets me confidently make any change I want." - FreedmanAE

We launched this quietly, but we now sell returned and refurbished memory and storage (securely erased) for ~50% off with 11th Gen and 12th Gen configurations. We're reducing waste at the same time as reducing the cost of entry to the Framework Laptop ecosystem.

The first few pallets of these have now been repacked into individual orders and are on their way out of the warehouse and over to customer doorsteps!

We found a way to reduce system power consumption through HDMI and DP Expansion Card modifications. You can rework existing HDMI (advanced soldering required) and reflash existing DP cards too. We have more information in our latest blog post. https://frame.work/blog/getting-ready-to-ship-13th-gen-and-announcing-power-saving-expansion-cards

"It is refreshing to see things being done correctly in a power adapter. This one is certainly an example of how things can be small and achieve great power performance whilst not sacrificing any safety aspects." -

We can finally share that we're using Ryzen 7 7840U and Ryzen 5 7640U processors in the new Framework Laptop 13 (AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series). Thank you to the huge number of you who preordered even without that detail! https://frame.work/blog/announcing-the-framework-laptop-13-powered-by-amd-ryzen

We follow a philosophy of "Reduce, Reuse, Repair, Recycle." Reuse what you can't reduce, repair what you can't reuse, and treat recycling as a final fallback for when you can't make a product last longer: https://frame.work/blog/reduce-reuse-repair-recycle

@frameworkcomputer Is it at all possible to configure a Framework laptop with the i5 CPU but 16GB RAM? I really wouldn't need to splash out for the i7, but more RAM would certainly be something I look for when I get to new laptop buying time :)

frameworkcomputer,
@frameworkcomputer@fosstodon.org avatar

@wiredfire Just visited the configuration page for Framework 13 DIY edition. Looks like 13th gen, you can select i5-1340P (preorder) with 16 GB of RAM. 12th Gen is out of stock, 11thGen is out of stock on i5. So preordering 13th gen i5 is the best bet if going with the DIY edition.

on the big blue bird site posted something super neat!

"We designed a case for
's Mainboards, which make lovely little servers, and are thinking about selling a DIY kit for you tinkerers out there. They can sit on your desk or hang on your wall. What do ya think? Should we make a small run of these?"
