I keep seeing all these #css luminaries arguing that you shouldn’t use utility-first tools, and REDACTED in particular.

Yet to see one address how useful they are for the many, or why that might be.

Plenty of moral aspersions. Unwillingness to learn and so on. Couldn’t possibly be anything about the tech.

Finally twigged, it’s the Frontend version of “You mustn’t use an ORM”. Exact same vibe.

Fed up with #macOS' #Spotlight. No fuzzyfinder, in 2024; no real drilldown; the way it organizes/sorts results are unintuitive. I shouldn't have to remember what /format/ a document is to go "oh right I oughtta scroll down a bunch to see PDFs” 😩

What's good for alternative launcher/finder tools these days? AFAIK, it's still down to the same candidates from ~10ya, ie #Alfred, #Quicksilver, #Launchbar? (EDIT: Raycast enters the chat! Tho its AI focus is worrying.)

Does anyone know if there exists such a thing as a recessed USB receptacle that can fit in a (US) 1 gang electrical box, that would allow me to flush-mount a USB-powered device, so that the cord would just be hidden in back going into the receptacle? I have this older guy following me around at the park. Completely uninvited, he changes his walking direction to follow me around and slows me down and keeps me from my pace and podcasts. I have no interest to talking to him about himself for an hour.

Due to the layout of the park I cannot always avoid him. Today I told him directly I was late for work and couldn't talk. I picked up my pace and he CHASED ME. I'm so tired of this and would like to avoid changing my walking time. What the hell?

Wednesday night we stayed in a motor lodge. Lucy booked it via Booking.com.

Thursday 16:00 she got an email from Booking.com saying ‘your review is live!’. She had written no such review, whose title was ‘Godd’, had no content, and was a 10 rating.

(This motor lodge was okay. A ten it was not.)

Thursday 21:00 she got an email from Booking.com asking her to review the property.

WTF. She’s contacting Booking.com now.
