So... Does anyone recommend a pixelfed instance that won't federate with threads?

Edit: I have an option and more, 🙏. But I'll leave this up as I know others want to have options as well.

hamishtpb,

@SallyStrange @onepict I was thinking of setting up a pixelfed server to add to my stable but the last time I tried it installing was a pain. I may look into it again now it seems more needed.

hamishtpb,

@onepict @SallyStrange @Framasoft I am attempting it now but it might take a wee while before it is ready.

hamishtpb,

@RyunoKi @onepict @SallyStrange I managed to get PeerTube working eventually 😄

hamishtpb,

@RyunoKi @onepict @SallyStrange I tend to be a bit of a "paint by numbers" installer then work stuff out once it is working to make sure I have security settings etc correct before I go live.

For various reasons my servers are running on Debian while I am far more used to Arch (and the Arch Wiki) so I have a little extra hurdle to get over too.

hamishtpb,

@RyunoKi @onepict @SallyStrange Sorry team but I feel like there is too much knowledge external to the install instructions needed and I have given up again. Very sorry that I am not able to help out at this time.

A few things seem to be rearing their heads again on the Fediverse and I have some simple advice.

If you don't like something, don't have an interest in something or don't want to take part in something then be a reasonable human.

Complaining about things that come up in your timeline and/or being nasty to people who post or boost these things is not the answer. You have complete control over your timeline. Use the tools to filter what you see and what you don't. Don't follow accounts that post things you don't like.

Being a shite to other people is never the answer.

Mutual aid, selling creative works, advertising videos / streams etc does you no harm. Ignore or filter, don't be a ring-piece.

Thank you for your time.

I just retrieved my from storage and it worked right away after over 10 years.

Time to crack some 1990s cash machines!
