@davidrevoy I was browsing the App Store on my iPad when I saw this picture. Didn't expect to see Pepper pop-up as promotion for an Arabic learning app. Do you know the origin of the drawing, or is it original?
@davidrevoy I apologize for being a bit unclear, this is a children learning app, not a full language learning tool. Also, I am surprised that someone took the effort to draw Pepper for a promotion thumbnail. As for translations being used in the app, that does not appear to be the case at all; after going through the app, I did not see any art/material from the comic (I speak Arabic + have contributed previously to the translations).
So I'm 20% through Tress of the Emerald Sea. The adventure has just begun, and already the poor girl has gone through hell. I'm at the point right now that if she doesn't succeed in getting her beau back, I will riot. #Books#bookstodon
@thelinuxcast Looks like you really cannot find a fantasy novel/series you like. If you have enough time, you may want to give The Wheel of Time a try. It has some of the best characters ever. The only problem is that it's rather very long and time consuming (15 books overall).
@Techaltar The other day I was walking towards a vending machine and saw a small OPPO ad playing constantly in a similar way. Thought it was very weird. Huawei does that too? I guess it's the latest advertising strategy? I'm looking forward to see the Apple version. Bet it's gonna be for apple juice, though.
@itsfoss When I tried to install both gnome and kde plasma on my system, then removed gnome because it was caused too many problems with plasma, I realized that removing it nuked the whole system.
@nixCraft Basic. It was othe first programming language I ever learnt, but ended up with Python instead because It was just too old. Now I barely remember how to write a hello world example with it.
@thelinuxcast Xfce, openbox, KDE Plasma and Gnome all at once. A nightmare. Believe me, you don't want to install both gnome and plasma at the same time; the configuration is just too complicated. And the number of packages is over 9000.
@itsfoss Absolutely! Not just because Gnu/Linux Distributions are free compared to Windows -which is expensive- but also because they help students learn programming in a much easier way than Windows.
Not to mention the painfully slow machines that schools have -I remeber that we had an old computer that took five minutes to boot into Windows 98 :blobcatfacepalm:- and Linux being a much faster and lightweight system.
