I present to you the most expensive drink I’ve ever seen on a bar menu, and a whopping $690. It’s basically “jungle juice” but for rich people

hunter,
@hunter@social.skrasek.us avatar

@ian negative, I think that price is in KYD, $1 KYD == $1.25 USD

I mean... elder Millennials might remember it, vaguely?

Nah, probably not...

@Crell born 92. If the economy has been functional during my life time I sure as hell don’t recall it being that way

@Crell If it’s more than just WASM, almost looks like a user friendly wrapper around FFI no?

Thanks to borrowing an eSIM from @zonuexe, I've now tested all four physical Japanese mobile networks, including the elusive Rakuten Mobile. My phone didn't lock onto their , but seeing on them was good enough.

That's in addition to LTE and 5G on SoftBank and NTT, plus LTE on KDDI, that I was able to source myself :)

Yep, I'm that much of a cell network nerd. Any questions?

@ian now you need to publish a one off site with all of your findings

I am looking at the Hyundai Ioniq5 but have concerns about charging on the road in Canada. Tesla is so convenient 🤷‍♂️

@grmpyprogrammer have you looked at the Ford Mustang Mach-E? Just got one in February, and there’s a Tesla charging network adapter you can snag

I own the domains neighbors.social and neighbrs.social, but have yet to figure out what to do with them. I think I was originally thinking of some sort of Fediverse type thing, but now I just have no clue.

Taking suggestions if you got any, no promises I'll actually be able to follow through with them though

And of course, this site features a half dozen languages and their package system... But forgets about .

Even if you don't use PHP yourself, ignoring one of the largest and best designed package systems (/) is just dumb.

@Crell @derickr @mwop are there enough people that want to make this or these improvements that they could, idk, override the majority and just do it?

There are times, like tonight, where I feel as if I was born into the wrong time. I don’t mean the past, that place fucking sucked. Just, further in the future.

There’s an AI like wingman tool for dating named Fonzie (lol). It has a bio improvement feature. Which basically starts off by roasting the ever living hell out of it, and then you gotta pay to have it improve it. It’s the first time I’ve seen a per week payment period, but kinda makes sense in my mind for dating apps?

Needless to say, trying to get all the things “right” so that maybe dating apps will work and I’ll meet people and go on dates, fall in love, etc. is off to a great start for me

I’m not as close to internals, though I’m interested in it someday. Has the discussion been had about supporting UnitEnum or BackedEnum has an array key in future versions? Are there reasons I’m missing why not supporting that and “forcing” WeakMap or SplObjectStorage is the better approach?

Happy New Year! I hope it brings good fortune and happiness to everyone.

Not to be a party pooper, but I’m personally just not feeling it. The year changing has lost its luster or meaning for me.

I read an article this year about a note or writing organization method they spoke to me.. and I can’t find the article. Only remember it was three words, and I think it was the Wired white and black UI.

Gahhhhhhhhh

hunter,

@andrewfeeney wasn’t that. It was like a system, I want to say one of the letters was an A. Really wish I hadn’t lost that tab now

DHH blogging about his views and reasons for being against DEI, etc.: Ok, fine, totally acceptable.

Librarians blogging about dropping Basecamp because of the leaderships views? Not allowed, is just “higher education bending over backwards to be morally superior”, higher education circle jerking, and petty.

Alrighty then 😒😶🫠

I’d love to drop Chromium based browsers all together, but an extension I heavily rely on is only for chromium browsers. Braves been my replacement, It apparently it’s shit or problematic too?

hunter,
@hunter@social.skrasek.us avatar

@RyanHyde @ramsey can you use chrome based extensions in Arc?

I lucked into early access for the Build Your Own GPT feature, so I made a couple of GPTs to help with Swift and TypeScript development.

Not to brag, but I got to do karaoke with @ramsey @stevegrunwell @Crell @dabernathy89 and Ryan at singing American Pie. And now I’m watching @ian sing Mr. Brightside. This is what you’re missing not attending @longhorn.

Jealous? You should come next year to join in the fun 😉

Question for the folks and experts. I’ve got a project with two dependencies, both rely on LiveWire: ^2. I’d like to update one of those dependencies to its latest version, but it requires LiveWire: ^3 and the other dependency has an unknown update time.

Is there anyway around this? Sorta like convincing Composer to somehow allow both versions. Though I guess there’d be namespace conflicts out there wazoo

hunter,
@hunter@social.skrasek.us avatar

@shawnhooper Yea as I typed the message up it dawned on me I’m kinda stuck. The problem is the dependency that’s lagging behind is Mailcoach, which is paid and thus not forkable.

Guess I’ll just have to wait until Mailcoach 7 launches to upgrade to Filament v3

Hey... question...

Say you have a function that has to return 1 of 3 states. Yes, no or N/A.

What's the recommended way to do this?

-Return an int flag?
-True/false/null?
-Return a value object?

hunter,
@hunter@social.skrasek.us avatar

@Crell random question, but do you have any example of generic Result objects in PHP? Or is it better to make multiple Result objects depending on the class/function call?

Ever since installing Jamf on my MacBook Pro, I’ve been having a bunch of weird issues with random freezes and network connectivity issues and programs taking too long to load. This weekend, I’ve had Finder crash several times, and it wouldn’t restart. The system error reporting dialog mentions “watchdogd kernel panic.”

This is several years old, but a lot of it sounds like what I’m experiencing: https://sigpipe.macromates.com/2020/macos-catalina-slow-by-design/

Anyone familiar with this?

hunter,
@hunter@social.skrasek.us avatar

@ramsey @josh if any documentation exists that I could send my companies IT that’d be great. I’ve been getting these Watchdog kernel panics forever now and we use Jamf
