i’ve said it before, but the internet might benefit from something like a list, or a directory even, of well known good sites covering various topics.

the reasons this approach was discarded early on are starting to seem a bit suspicious in hindsight.

    It's the disappointment. Because these numberwords present this tiny mystery that you're curious to unravel, so you ask the person oh hey what does x32n mean, and they tell you and it's a computer word, it's always about computers, they came here to bother you about computers and they're using their computer and YOUR computer to do so, and you slump every part of your body and soul as they whisper these grey computer words into the goo that used to be your brain

    It's Gargoyles, that's what they are. Remember Snow Crash, that book that people on here thought was really cool twenty years ago but we carefully avoid re-reading because we all know it's probably aged poorly, there was this whole plot point in that book about people who'd gone So Online that they could no longer be understood, and even the Incredibly Unhealthily Chronically Online called them Gargoyles and kinda viewed them as a cautionary tale.
