Small rant. I’m trying to sell my stuff online. I was immediately permabanned by and , most likely due to my active VPN connection and associated IP.

I’m glad I signed up for Mercari from my mobile, sans VPN.

I’m probably going to be exploring some VPN alternatives. Why is it so hard to have AND ? @mullvadnet

It’s been 2 months, and I’ve finally moved the temporary set up (solderless breadboard) to a properly soldered board with terminals.

I still love the USB ports I added, makes it so easy to share power on the top shelf.

My home internet is down, but fortunately I got rid of Chamberlain’s MyQ and replaced it with an all-local option.

Got home. Connected to WiFi. Opened garage door. Bada-bing, bada-boom.

A local is better than a cloud-based smart home. makes it easy.

I went with the ratgdo. You can order the hardware from and support the developer, or you can build one yourself. Install time is like 15 minutes, including getting the ladder.

I grew up a Windows kid. Muscle memory starts with CTRL+ALT. IdleWild screensaver crashed our first machine, repeatedly.

Yesterday, I sat down, like that kid I was, again, and troubleshot a Mac issue.

Lessons / Reminders:

  • Not knowing stuff is humbling.
  • Figuring stuff out is exciting.
  • F8 for Safe Mode makes more sense than anything else, ever. Change my mind.

My rural county is starting up a round of “roadside safety checks”. Along with DUIs and speeding, they are targeting “All Illinois Vehicle Code and Criminal Violations”.
