The two main contributing factors to inflation right now seem to be energy and housing prices.

High interest rates discourage housing construction which limits housing supply which increases housing prices. High interest rates have no effect on resolving the war in Ukraine.

So how do high interest rates help with controlling inflation in our current situation?

Canceling credit cards in the US decreases your credit score because it increases your credit utilization which means people are encouraged to keep credit cards they don't use. This seems kind of messed up.

Assuming the following constraints:

  1. It has to work
  2. Same number of people with roughly equivalent skills
  3. (optional) The customer can randomly change their mind at any time

Yes, I'm willing to bet that (or at least ) is faster, with or without the 3rd constraint.

I don't really get where the idea that it wouldn't be comes from.
