jj122,

Honestly pretty impressive how they just crumpled to the ground and didn’t go flying.

jj122,

CNN already put out the conditions required for him to be part of the debate. Needs to get 15% in 4 high quality national polls and be on the ballot in enough places to be able to get elected.

jj122,

You mean Kristi Noem the dog murderer?

jj122,

As someone who A/B tested mint and T-Mobile. They are virtually the same (mint is owned by T-Mobile) but in the middle of no where Kansas T-Mobile had full data but mint only had voice/text. I’m 98% sure that’s because it was a dead zone for T-Mobile so you defaulted to roaming on a locally owned tower. So keep that in mind if you travel a lot to sparsely populated areas.

We decided to stick with T-Mobile in the end just because both the W and I got big pay bumps but if we hadn’t I would have strongly considered switching.

jj122,

Sounds like they should charge the grandpa for not securing his gun that was used in a murder.

jj122,

I’m going to estimate 99% of recipes in the US don’t give weights for those. It will say one large onion or 3 medium zucchini. There are a few places (serious eats) that tend to give weights but it’s extremely rare. If you’re lucky you’ll get volumes but weights are so rare.

jj122,

Look into ozone generators or ozium air fresheners. Ozone generators sanitize without heat and help reduce odors but might be expensive and take a long time to be effective (hours to days). Ozium air fresheners absorb the odor and they got the gasoline smell out of my car, no idea how they work but you just leave them in your car.

jj122,

Seafood generally has a country of origin on it. You might be able to check.

Florida Supreme Court allows 6-week abortion ban to take effect, but voters will have the final say (www.nbcnews.com)

In a pair of significant decisions, the Florida Supreme Court ruled Monday to uphold a 15-week ban on abortion in the state, while also allowing a proposed amendment that would enshrine abortion protections in the state constitution to appear on the November ballot....

jj122,

Don’t forget that in Kansas they thought the same thing and then the choice amendment won 60/40%.

jj122,

While the net take home might be the same, those people are getting more hours to do other things. I didn’t do an exhaustive search but it seems like before this the minimum wage was $16 an hour. They could be seeing as much as a 25% increase in wage which means they get the same paycheck in 20% less time. That can enable people to spend less on child care, pick up other shifts, make better/less expensive meals, or just enjoy their free time. So pay might be the same but there is still a net benefit.

jj122,

Not sure about the word template thing and I know it’s not power shell, but bulk rename utility is basically everything you could want for renaming things plus it previews the change before you execute it.

jj122,

My guess is this is a covid spike after a holiday where many candles were purchased/gifted.

jj122,

Oh man the university ptsd as an engineer. I once asked a physics prof at what width does the split slot experiment break down, she couldn’t understand the question. All the other engineering students were nodding their heads in agreement with the question and tried to explain the question in a different way, still no idea what we were asking.

Anyone know a good mouse with a lot of side buttons, that isn't an MMO style? (lemmy.world)

My Razer Naga Pro died and I’m absolutely not buying another one for what it costs. But I also can’t seem to find a replacement with the same sort of layout this one had. I’ll link a picture, but I’m essentially looking for a mouse that has a lot of side buttons but still has a place for me to rest my thumb without...

jj122,

Have you checked ifixit for replacement parts? I just replaced the battery in my mx master 3 and it cost me like $20-30 and took 30ish minutes.

If the motherboard debug led for VGA lights up, does that mean that there's an issue with the GPU or is it possible that the PCIe slot is faulty ?

I have a gtx 1660 super which turns off in the middle of doing something. I don’t get any output to my monitor and even restarting doesn’t solve the problem. It is quite random and very frustrating to say the least. The only solution I have now is to wait for an hour or so and restart - I’ll get display output if I’m...

jj122,

With those symptoms (dying under load and takes an hour to turn back on) I would put it at a 90% chance this is a thermal issue with the video card. Have you made sure the GPU fans spin when under load? If they aren’t spinning that’s going to be your problem. If they are, how dirty is the heat sink and has that ever been cleaned? If you have pets and live in a place with carpet or a smoker you will get buildup in the heat sink that can kill airflow. With this card only being ~4 years old at most, I wouldn’t expect the thermal paste to be an issue but it wouldn’t hurt to replace it.

jj122,

I just got 2 of these (x22 version) for my Jellyfin. Supposed to be here tomorrow! I don’t think I could drop $1k for that many.

jj122,

Some things I would double-check:

  • Make sure only the correct mb standoffs are installed and all of the correct standoffs are installed and used. Looks like there is an unused mount in one of your pictures.
  • Make sure all power connections on the mb are made (there are more than just the 24 pin).
  • If using a modular power supply, make sure you have the wires plugged into the correct plugs on the ps. Pcie cables might fit into the mb aux or SATA connector plugs.
  • Final step is taking everything out and installing the minimum viable components. So one stick ram, no expansion cards, only boot drive, etc.
jj122,

This happens to my wife’s smaller one (maybe 6 cup) every few months. Generally the gasket is the primary issue and the second issue is she doesn’t tighten the 2 halves together very well.

jj122,

Numb by Linkin Park. Didn’t know how much I identified with Chester until he was gone. Why his music resonated so strongly with me.

jj122,

You’re not wrong but after having this exact breakfast at HIE and Hampton Inn about 50+ times, it’s crap. Bland and repetitive and usually cold but somehow over cooked or the most undercooked eggs/bacon. My company always strongly recommends booking a room with breakfast included, but f that I’ll go find a $10 diner and have real bacon.

jj122,

Bro, trust me bro - dumb AF execs.
