The garbage truck has come by three times to collect our garbage cans today. I just watched them pick up all the empty cans and dump nothing into the truck. I hope the sanitation workers are ok and not having a stroke.

Its bullshit that "circling back" to something in conversation became corporate jargon, because as an ADHD-haver that speaks and writes in deeply nested parentheticals and ALSO experiences most things as rhythmic if not periodic, declaring the intent to "circle back" to prior loops of thoughts while diverging into yet more layers is EXACTLY what I need as a conversational technology

Peertube is an absolutely excellent self-hosted tool, not just as a public fedi thing. one-click import from youtube or WHEREVER using yt-dlp built in, transcoding, private links, playlists, collections... this is gonna completely replace how i've been self-archiving videos, and gonna work on moving some of my stuff into a plugin. what a delightful find. yunohost can install with no fuss.

Are "honey cakes" a traditional Christmas dish for anyone elses family? They're just a very simple dough, rolled to 1/8" thick, cut into strips and tied into a bow, fried, and then covered in honey. It turns into a gigantic mountain of hard as a rock cake that you have to chisel each cake out of. You try to keep it moist by covering in plastic wrap but it just turns into the stickiest nightmare film youve ever seen.

Anyway im gonna try and make a celiac version which is gonna be MORE ROCK SOLID

Computer fans kept going high when computer should have been asleep. Was doing malware probe and checking system logs sure I was infected, and then remembered it was just Folding@Home, which is just a science botnet.

If ppl spent more time building things like folding@home instead of bigass cloud orchestration tooling then the internet would be way cooler than it is. Its a shame cryptocurrencies sucked the life out of distributed computing in the short term.

Some people say Israel-Palestine won't matter next year in terms of the US elections, that Americans don't typically vote based on foreign policy, but the problem with this view is ignoring how Israel-Palestine has become a flashpoint for the atomization of the left-liberal coalition. Everybody is pointing fingers at each other like that Spider-Man meme, a lot of white "liberals" are breaking right and going mask off, and the fascists are taking full advantage.

The fascists love to demonize queer ppl for "making everything about sex" or "making their gender their whole personality" but every time I go to a queer event I am struck by how precisely they have this backwards. Cis society is profoundly sexualized, and literally every interaction is pre-coded with assumed gender. In a queer space, you purposefully never make assumptions about who someone is or what they're up to, so interactions are much less coded by gender and less intrinsically sexual

One thing that would be cool to have in a sort of fluidly private way is a todo list where I can generate timed and scoped links that I can share with people who asked me to do something like "here are all the other things I need to do between now and the thing you asked me to do"

What I sort of want I guess is an analogous metaphor for when you share your location with someone so they can see how far away you are.

If u did a holiday today that involved food u can box any extras u have and walk until u find the first person sleeping rough and make sure they have food for tomorrow. And u can do this in general too.
