Can all of Americans get together on a class action lawsuit against the NRA and Republicans for emotional trauma and holding the nation hostage on current gun laws?

Not really asking for a friend. Asking for everyone 😢

Then we should prosecute more, especially Trump.

Looks like the demonstrators were subject to a classic bait & switch operation today - they were reassured through detailed meetings with the , led to believe there was a way that they could exercise their right to protest, only then to be arrested when they did... so much for - another step down a road we're constantly told is merely scaremongering.... its almost entrapment

On this occasion. Not to be taken as a rule outside actual coronations.

⚠️ People have a right to protest.

⚠️ People have a right to express their opinion.

Arrests for peacefully protesting the coronation & saying ?

Appalling.

Today, and probably only today, entirely justified, in my view.

So they should be drafted with no option to refuse ? Not sure that is a viable strategy.

I’ve argued this for a while, but it didn’t really sink in until I saw what I just saw. We’re fast approaching a rather scary tipping point in international politics.

FUD++

So for a very long time, fakes and disinformation were a natural - if icky - part of politicking.

Several machine-assisted technologies are fast converging into one enormous propaganda tool. Deepfakes getting more convincing, vocal synthesis has almost reached the threshold, search results, and ML/LLM assisted propagandAds are about to cross the Rubicon.

The greatest and most vile of those enemies has been Putin, and those-of-little brain failed to understand that, or to oppose as they should.

It isn’t a “starship,” and it will never be a “starship.” Starships travel between stars, they aren’t half-assed exploding penis proxies.

@kennethb @breadandcircuses of course ev will be a huge improvement. But they are not the solution. We need better mobility with way less cars.

kennethb,

@realSiegfried @breadandcircuses
In the longer term yes. In the shorter term, stopping the pollution coming from internal combustion engines has to be at the spearhead of the attack on climate damage. EVs can be cars, buses, tractors, all forms of moving vehicles in fact. Even air travel will be transformed. Electric planes are in development. The rest will take enormous changes in how we live, how our cities are configured, and the rest. That will take much longer to design and implement.
