I always forget about Egg Salad. For some reason, the hard boiling stage always seems like work, but of course, it really isn’t much.
Canned chicken also a good idea, but I’ve never found a stellar brand.

@shoq if you have an instant pot hard boiled eggs are a snap. 4 min on high pressure, then 4-5 minutes of "natural release", then plop them into and ice bath and you're good to go. Peels perfect every dang time.

Hey fediverse. My cardiologist wants me to cut out red meat cold cuts. But turkey gets old fast, and there’s so much damn mercury in tuna. I need suggestions for something I can eat often for lunch.

@shoq surprisingly Costo's canned chicken is quite good. I'm off to get some later this week for my lunches. Eggs are good too. Hard boil up a bunch and with a bit of mayo & mustard you've got egg salad.

Have you seen Yellowstone? Has there ever been a mainstream TV show to use so much Native American history and modern issues in their story arcs? I can’t think of one. I’m not commenting on the quality of those arcs. Just that they exist at all.

I just got a private message that I was being Trumpian for using mocking nicknames, that liberals shouldn't resort to demeaning names like I've used.

Should I stop? Is it Trumpian? Because honestly, I'm offended. My stuff is so tame. I'm hardly in his insulting league, but if I am, tell me.

Almost everything I post on Mastodon gets at least a reply, and often a conversation. On Bluesky and Threads, that’s rare. Again. I have many more followers here, but it was true even when I didn’t have many. It’s just a different culture. People elsewhere seem to be waiting for those services to evolve more, while people here are actually using what we have.

I can’t figure out out why some savvy entrepreneur and a hedge fund partner don’t see the market opportunity for a serious news network. Especially since virtual production tools, multiple distribution channels, and mountains of free content available, would make a start-up very affordable.

Our legal system is what it is for a reason, as @Teri_Kanefield wrote about yesterday in depth. Impatience is wasted, it gets us nowhere. My philosophy: Wait & see.

Not everyone who does or says 1 good thing should run for pres. ("___for president!")

Not everything is a conspiracy.

I refuse to opine or debate about some topics. I don't need more false assumptions, finger pointing, or indignation than I already see. 1/...

I keep thinking that there must be someone in the Israeli government who is chartered with crafting a path forward. Even Likud cannot possibly be dumb enough to think that leveling Gaza and leaving a million people homeless and hungry, with no where else to go is in their best interests. But there sure aren’t many attractive options. Even if an international effort rebuilds Gaza, it will be under Israeli governance for at least a decade.

Everyone keeps asking this. Of course they have deliveries here. I just don’t like them. They all suck for one reason or another. If I have no choice, I will, but I’d ‘rather limp thru as long as I can until i see the doc again and get some cortisone, or gel, or something.

@shoq have you looked into PRP injections. (plasma rich protein) they use your own blood, spin it down and reinject it. It worked great for me, but apparently doesn't work for everyone so is still considered "experimental" so insurance doesn't usually cover it.

In my parents day, they went to social clubs, dance clubs, and community centers to engage with others. It may seem quaint to us today, but I am starting to wish we had some modern equivalent to that. Because this “social” media thing is feeling very anti-social lately. I’m not even sure it’s enjoyable. It’s just something we seem to do automatically, or because it’s a job. Neither seems like a healthy reason anymore. If it ever was.

@shoq and a skill we're losing (or have lost) is knowing how to get along with those that we find disagreeable in one way or another. Without the face to face shared interactions (more than just in passing like at a grocery store) it's far to easy to disregard others. We're losing the glue that cements "community".

@jeffjarvis cognitive dissonance or busy schedules? How does the timing on this vaccine compare to when people usually get around to getting their flu vaccine each fall? I've had a down day after each shot and haven't had a break in my schedule yet to carve out that down day. There are lots of reasons why people delay, mine is just one example.
