@konstantin the simplicity is nice, I think a simple “Home | post date” type of link would be helpful and useful

Not sure how I just noticed this, but is the block editor not wrapped in a <form> tag? That means fields can’t use the “required” attribute, or submit the form easily by hitting enter. Or so many other standardized html things. Am I missing something here?

cjerrington,
@cjerrington@mstdn.social avatar

@johnstonphilip Is the block editor really a <form> though? It just uses the input elements to allow for the "editing" features in the wysiwyg editor.

I’ve been working on our company’s monitoring and alerting system for when things have issues it alerts us. Well, there’s always something, but tonight it’s been pretty quiet. That’s a good thing but makes me a little nervous too.

Hey @lene I’ve been looking at your excellent eleventy template and it’s been working great getting things moved over.

Have you tried the new alpha eleventy 3.0 with it yet?

cjerrington,
@cjerrington@mstdn.social avatar

@lene nice I didn’t see that yet. I’ll take a look. I’m almost done making all my changes, now to decide if I move into the v3 yet. 🤔

We successfully convinced the kids the tv sound had a filter on it where only the parents could hear it.

I went to settings looked at things, then restarted the tv to remove the filter.

Best part of my day.

I hope it gets more people to just say "no" and move to #Linux

#Microsoft #Windows can be so frustrating.

@matthew @nano Not that I saw ads quite yet, but this was the reason why I recently installed EndeavourOS on my other personal laptop. I always had a Windows machine around, for that one thing... Now I think I can live without it or fin another way.

there's no good reason to have ads within an OS.

Discovered something clever:

I use Ctrl+Super+L for screen locking in .
It works fine, but Plasma doesn't automatically pause media playback when locking the screen.
So, I removed the lockscreen shortcut, and added a custom Ctrl+Super+L shortcut to execute:
bash -c 'playerctl pause & qdbus org.freedesktop.ScreenSaver /ScreenSaver Lock'

Perfect!

Automation is the best part of cloud support. Wrote a quick script to change the instance type of a list of server ids. It’ll stop, change, start and all the things in between.

Now to sit back and relax.

🚀 Tonight sounds like good night to watch War Games.

cjerrington,
@cjerrington@mstdn.social avatar

@beardedtechguy such a great movie!

Which one? The one from 1983 or 2008?

cjerrington,
@cjerrington@mstdn.social avatar

@beardedtechguy yeah, they are very similar but yet different. Kinda a remake.

https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/14154-wargames-the-dead-code?language=en-US

cjerrington,
@cjerrington@mstdn.social avatar

@beardedtechguy the original is still the best. War Games : The Dead Code was on tv one day and thought it was the original at first. It’s not terrible but worth a watch when you have time too.

cjerrington,
@cjerrington@mstdn.social avatar

@beardedtechguy ugh, ads are the worst. Even more of a problem when you pay for the service and there’s ads still…

Currently looking for an plugin to actually render a social card in a post, not to be confused with a plugin that generate the cool meta tags in order to get a nice looking card on other websites.

Anyone got that somewhere? at the bottom of a pocket maybe?

@DavidDarnes this is pretty neat. I’ll see how I could put this in my blogroll soon.

What #code that you wrote do you actually use most regularly, like, on a #daily basis?

I'm going to have to say my #PowerShell prompt stuff, since not a day goes by where I'm not staring at the output 😉

But also ... Get-Parameter, which I use so often that I sometimes forget it's not built-in.

cjerrington,

@jaykul sometimes I like the auto fill design of things that chooses from your last known inputs. Sometimes it doesn’t work out though.

I’ve noticed pwsh7 prompt autofills your last command even if it didn’t work or not an actual command cause you mistyped it.

I guess I have a good set of static paths I like to set that I’m always in. I got to learn a few things along the way too. That’s always better than anything.

cjerrington,
@cjerrington@mstdn.social avatar

@jaykul hmm I do like the command completion and I think there is a small line of failed command (one that is a command and produces an error) vs command not found that gets saved in the history.

I'll see if I can mess with the Handlers that are mentioned. Thanks!
