There’s a whole bunch of you out there pretending to be comrades who are suddenly proud apologists for patriarchal structures of power enforced through rape or theocratic tyrannies that murder children and I guess I can at least appreciate knowing which of you were never really comrades.

lerret,

@breadandcircuses such a good resource. Really extensive even though it’s mainly a western perspective. It includes a lot of citations which is great for finding further reading

My experience with unions has not been positive.

Unions reminded me of junior high school (middle school). Grown adults who didn't show up for work on time, spent a good amount of their time in the restroom, playing with their phone, or taking random cigarette breaks, along with 1 1/2 —2 hour lunches, and leaving their department and unfinished work to hang with someone in another department

Meanwhile, god forbid you take your job seriously or worse, actually like your job

I'm sorry to hear about your negative experiences. Unions should protect all members, not just some. Your story highlights the need for reform and accountability in unions. It's crucial they serve the best interests of all workers. To avoid such issues in the future, unions should implement transparent policies, regular audits, and member feedback systems to ensure fair representation.

“If there are no landlords, then who will provide housing?”

is as silly a question as

“If there are no ticket scalpers, who will provide concerts?”

I live for discourse so please fediverse keep these coming.

@mikemathia Could you keep the source in screenshots? I know it’s the onion but for others to know it’s satirical at first glance I think it would be helpful

Just wanted to double check, but if you had a monthly or yearly subscription in Apollo and you cancelled it prior to yesterday, did you still properly get the option to decline the refund?

(As an example, if you subscribed in February, and cancelled in June, that would tell it to not renew the subscription, but you'd still have your content until the following February, want to make sure my code covered that properly. It should!)

lerret,

@christianselig I had no problem declining the refund

I just released a really important Apollo update that adds the ability for users with remaining subscription time left to decline an automatic refund. Devs pay refunds out of pocket, and this will be about $250K, so I thank you for your consideration. ❤️

Also, this update includes an amazing "Goodbye Apollo Wallpaper Set” for your phone, tablet, or desktop, created by outrageously talented Apollo icon designers. You can unlock the pack with a donation that helps with refund costs. 🙂

lerret,

@christianselig any chance you’d build a app like

i’m using for mastodon on my iphone, and i’ve noticed that non-iphone emoji don’t display. for example:

:fediverse:

i think that’ll parse for y’all as the logo, right? for me it’s just the word “fediverse” with a colon on each side.

i’m unclear on whether these are mastodon-specific emoji, or instance-specific. it’s not the end of the world if ivory can’t display them, but it would be nice to have. am i doing something wrong, or is this maybe a future feature?
