My commonplace camera could catch some pink and green hues that were barely noticeable with the naked eye.

Which makes me wonder if all the breathtaking aurora images we see are just a highly edited product.

It makes me wonder what the photographers were actually seeing, and what auroras really look like.

Language learners, I have questions! 🙋🏻‍♀️

I have noticed that when I speak Japanese (currently my weakest language, A1) and try to fetch some words, at times my head turns to my second weakest language (currently Finnish, B1).

And it's not the first time! Back in the early days of Finnish, I would revert to French; and same thing happened with German when I was learning French.

Have you noticed a similar pattern when speaking your weakest language?

@edraac Qué curioso esto. Me pasó algo similar con el francés cuando empecé a reactivarlo después de 15 años sin usarlo. Mi cerebro buscaba palabras e incluso sintaxis en alemán (en aquella época la segunda lengua más débil), aunque tenía ahí el español para apoyarse, pero ni caso. 😅

@sinjut That's interesting. I believe the German slang word "Digga" comes from "Dicker" (lit. fatter), although nowadays it doesn't have that weight connotation.

Nada más alemán que manden por correo físico instrucciones para el primer día de trabajo 😂 Con la empresa actual (también alemana) todo fue digital, pero entonces yo estaba en CR, no sé como es normalmente.
Rajado que lo que me mandaron pudo haber sido un email con dos PDFs adjuntos 😅 Y no me quejo, es bonito el gesto, pero digamos que mi primer trabajo fue en el 2011 en un país del „tercer mundo“ y excepto por las entrevistas y la firma del contrato, toda la comunión fue por email

Here's a concept for a learning reality show: 50 people who want to learn a language from zero to B1 are sent to a region where the target language is spoken. They live with a local family, attend intensive courses, participate in cultural events, etc for 20 weeks. Everyone who passes a B1 test after those 20 weeks wins a life-time premium subscription to Lingoda. Additionally, whoever scores higher gets to pick the language to be learned in the next season. You are welcome, Netflix. 😁
