When I was 13, my mom bought me Civilization III from a retail shop, then went on to do some more shopping. I stayed in the car, with this elegant box in my hands, craving to play the game it contained. I opened the box, and there discovered something magical: the Civilization III Manual. Having nothing better to do, I started reading it…
I'm curious. Do any of the work of your lab features takeaways on how we could successfuly migrate people/communities from reddit to lemmy or another fediverse equivalent? 🤔
I've been working on a subtitle editor plugin for #peertube !
It adds a extra button on the update video page, and can do most of what you find in other tools, like visualize audio, basic formatting, and makes it easy to switch language.
The goal is that it should be "good enough" for most who just want to add subtitles/captions, but don't want to spend time finding and downloading dedicated software for this.
Instance administrators can install it via the plugin page. #accessibility#a11y#foss
Just because someone specializes in something you don’t like doesn’t mean they’re some kind of villain.
A lawyer specializes in advising and defending AI model creators? Tough titties: somebody has to do that job, and everyone deserves representation in a court of law. It’s better if someone specializes and knows the ins and outs.
A former Twitter cofounder did business as an angel investor and maybe some VC stuff? Okay, in what capacity? A guy who has repeatedly started companies giving his insights to new startups doesn’t have to be this malicious, predatory thing.
But no, half of you hear “Masto board has Twitter guy and AI/Blockchain bro”, and the community immediately erupts into hysterics while doing exactly zero research on any of these people.
Hey !
Apart from the default #chatmail server advertised on our onboarding page there are at least three other stable open-signup servers whose operators cooperate to ensure stability, see this new page covering background such as funding, trust etc https://delta.chat/en/chatmail
@johnonolan do we have some stats available about ghost userbase/content? I mean, once the implementation done how many people will be able to join the fedi?
Hey, I'm Stan` I am 29 (Almost 30!) and a software engineer who enjoys opensource doing 3D art with Blender and Game JAMS
You can sometimes meet me at open source events like the @jdll next month where I'll be presenting 0 A.D. a project for which I was the project leader for a few years.
I had an interesting idea for PubKit, I do want to open source the code but I'd also like to get some funding/donations while keeping the service free.
The idea is to set a goal, say $15,000 of donations to reach before the source code is published, basically incentivizing the release by a set monetary goal.
@dansup that's 100% legit. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Just because its FLOSS doesn't mean you have to work for free. If the donation goal is not reached, it means people don't care.
Our #Reddit only needs 4 more users to get it to 3,500 members! Come on over and join the sub for quality content, tech support, and a growing community.
