  1. If you could remove one rule of grammar, which would you choose?

English isn't my native language hence it'd feel presumptuous to consider changing grammar rules.
That said, language is a living, changing construct. These rules aren't set in stone and will change through (lack of) use over time or by some language keepers deciding on changed rules (as happened for German grammar during my lifetime). So, these rules may be there for a reason, but not forever.

Although I do like the idea of some mystical language keepers...
There are three of them, one for spelling, who holds the key to the secret of the order of letters.
The second is responsible for grammar, who watches over who the subject and object are and how they are verbally connected.
The third is for semantics, and is frowned upon by the others for occasionally playing around with meanings.

Nachdem sich die Befürchtungen bzgl. der Ausrichtung der COP28 jetzt bestätigt haben, wäre die richtige Reaktion aller Wissenschaftler und Journalisten vor Ort, komplett die Zelte abzubrechen und abzureisen.
Alles andere wäre eine Legitimierung dieses verhöhnenden Standpunkts des Konferenzpräsidenten.

Na endlich kommt das mal langsam auf den Radar. Digitalisierung ist kein Allheilmittel, schon gar nicht in der Bildung. Kinder lernen über Beziehung und Imitation und nicht am leblosen Bildschirm.

Kann hier jemand einen guten koffeinfreien empfehlen? Als Bohnen, nicht gemahlen. Espressotauglichkeit ist ein Bonus aber kein Muss.
Die Sorten, die ich bisher probiert habe, hatten leider immer noch zuviel Koffein oder waren geschmacklich nicht tragbar.

(Und bitte keine Diskussionen darüber, dass das ja Blasphemie sei. Das weiß ich selber, geht nicht anders.)

And I think it's very similar to Trump's first election. People want change, and even if that change means a lot of damage for a lot of people, it's change nonetheless, as the other parties are perceived as "more of the same".

I'd also say the emotional driver here is not really hate, but rather anger, spite and helplessness. But that doesn't really matter in the end. :(

But I don't think that was his "selling point" for this election, was it?
Still doesn't excuse voting for this Pied Piper.

Something similar is happening in Germany, too.
While our conservatives (CDU) publicly say thay don't want to work together with AfD (right wing extremists), they are actually opening the door bit by bit. And now the AfD is polling at 20% because the conservatives are copying and legitimising their positions more and more.

Even if these parties win in an election, they are just the biggest party but not necessarily the majority of the people.

I'm currently considering whether I need to come up with my own time system for the fantasy novel. In particular, I am thinking of an alternative unit for hours. Has anyone tried this before, or would it just complicate the story unnecessarily?
Having a character say something like "The next village is 2 hours away" just doesn't feel right in this world.

Heute im Transrapid - Informationszentrum,
welches von einem Verein betrieben wird.

Sehr interessante Führung genossen.

Deutschland hat ein emissionsarmes, kostengünstiges, wartungsarmes Transportsystem fertig entwickelt und nutzt es nicht.

Ich wusste das, aber jetzt nervt mich der Autowahnsinn, die Kerosinsubvention, Dienstwagenprivileg, der verrottete teure Nahverkehr noch mehr als sonst.

@schrottie Ich dachte immer, einer der Hauptgründe, warum es nicht weiter genutzt wurde, war damals der Unfall mit 23 Toten auf der Teststrecke.

Ich lese gerade "On Tyranny - Twenty lessons from the twentieth century" von Timothy Snyder.

Den Satz "The biggest wallet pays for the most blinding lights." finde ich extrem zitierwürdig.

Ein kurzes und knackiges Buch. Einerseits ernüchternd, andererseits ein Aufruf zum Handeln. Jedes Kapitel ein Appell, um aus der Vergangenheit zu lernen und für Demokratie einzustehen.

Danke an @holgi für die Empfehlung.
