Since "Overreact" (my React/HTML/CSS game engine) survived its first major test last week, a 2-day hackathon at work, I've decided to focus on just 2D features, and use it to build and release a complete game!

It's still very alpha, and pretty light on documentation, but I'm liking where it's heading! :-D

@SteffoSpieler Nope, no canvas in sight! It's all HTML elements. Images are just background images on divs, using background-position to select different tiles or animate stuff. 😄

It's probably a terrible idea, but so far it's working really nicely.

Of course this has a lot of limitations, such as not being able to use shaders, but for the kinds of games I'm interested in making, I think it could be really efficient and let me prototype ideas really quickly!

Playing around with some variants. Here we have a simpler, less noisy version with fewer cracks and craters, and some mossy versions too which would be great for a dungeon setting perhaps.

✨🎉 Version 13 of my retro texture pack is out now!

It's a small update, adding just 6 new textures, taking the total texture count to 345! But it's the first of what I hope will be weekly updates from now on. 😊

I'm revising the art style for Beep Boop slightly. I'm sticking with the 's 15-color palette, but I'm using them more freely, without the attribute-clash limitations.

I think it has a more of an "arcade" feel to it. Do you agree? 🤖⚡️🕹️

🎉✨ Version 11 of my retro texture pack is now available!

It's just a small addition of 19 new textures this time round, focusing on outdoor stuff, such as tarmac, sidewalks, fences and cladding! Enjoy!

@brnrdbrk unfortunately there isn't a fixed palette, but I try to limit the number of colours in each texture as much as possible. I have been trying out some ideas for limiting them to a fixed palette though.
