I’ve bent over to move something in the garage and got a shooting pain in the back of my head. A few minutes later, it happened again. Now I have a rapidly building headache, which is never a good thing because it suggested a migraine is on the way.

I am afraid this is going to be a bad one … that really hurts

Audible started allowing “AI” generated audiobooks ( > 40,000 so far ) but provides no mechanism to filter them out.

Voice actors bring stories to life. Computer voices destroy emotional moments and massacre the sentiment with which phrases are expressed.

It turns out that I am a fucking idiot. I was feeling motivated this morning, so after feeding the dogs, I sat down and began slicing fruit to put in the dehydrator.

It is currently 8:34 AM & I have just finished cutting them and transferring the slices to the dehydrator trays. At approximately 9 AM the electric company is going to shut off the power for 4 to 5 hours while they do some line upgrades.

I guess I transfer the trays to the freezer now to keep them from becoming not food safe?

It is 78° outside (25° C). I am walking the dogs. I am sweating. When I finish the walk, I will need to start mowing the grass again. soon, I will be drenched in sweat.

I really, really wish I could just take my shirt off and do this topless.

Somehow, though, I don’t think our neighbors would appreciate me flaunting my tits in front of their young children.

I wish this country wasn’t founded and run by prudes and bigots.

New #transgender milestone reached:
Our tractor's fuel hole is nearly chest high on @dachary so I - being taller - became the one who refills it.

1st I go to grab a 5 gallon can of fuel (~35lbs or ~16kg) and am like "oof!" being caught off guard by the weight. Then, I go to lift it to my chest height to hold it over the tank & I am struggling. I need to get a stool to Captain Morgan my leg on, so that I can rest the can on my raised thigh / knee and tip it in.

It turns out that there's enough solar activity to take a 2nd crack at the #Aurora tonight.

However, we're covered in clouds, and would have to drive 8hours - not counting stops - in order to get to a potentially cloud-free area that's at a higher latitude.

Unfortunately, I've been tired all day, desperately need a nap, and am the only one comfortable driving our ~12,000lb (5,400kg) 🚑 because it's effing wide & wifey hasn't practiced in it yet. But she's also pooped so. 🤷‍♀️

@iamada Tooted a bit ago about troubles getting their developers to contribute to a changelog.

I used to be a release manager at one co. I know the pain well, and i have a LOT of thoughts on it.

The short answer is that as much as we wish they would update one with / for each PR they wont, and if you're talking about literally editing a CHANGELOG file then you DEFINITELY do NOT want them to try.

@bardi 's Tusks app is nice, but it's still early days.

I tried making my thread in FediThready because i prefer the way it chooses to chunk up long posts - and lets me control that if i want to - as well as how it lets me review the full thread.

However, FediThready can't post & doing a long thread 1-by-1 with the Mastodon UI is... "sub-optimal"

SO I used FediThready to make & review the thread & Tusks to post it. It worked quite well.

My phone saw some truly amazing things.

I mostly saw what looked like light pollution on the wrong side of the clouds. Occasionally we could see a brighter streak reaching up. @dachary was able to make out fainter things with more colors, but only tempting hints.

These were all long exposures on a jib with iPhone 15 Pro Max.

A dramatically different photo. The bottom match is a silhouette of trees above that is an incredibly bright section very pale, green, almost white stripes, heading up at a slight angle to the right before being occluded by clouds a little higher there is a break in the clouds and you can see that it has transitioned to a beautiful violet.

Changing the gender on your license in Vermont is just a matter of filling out the form!

That seemed too easy so I kept digging and found a queer & trans support place and they're like "nope. No proof needed"

With the electrician now 3 hours late I'm starting to de-stress because I figure he just isn't coming.

So, trying to find something positive in this e🐄💩:

• I got a decent selfie out of it (see below)
• I found a pair of glasses that I like and can just replace lenses in next time I get my eyes checked‡
• I found & ordered some bras with a promising looking fit.
• i can eat lunch.

‡ hormones change eye shape (!!!) & I'm not thrilled with last prescription, so waiting is good.

Well, I think I have found out why the sizing chart suggested that I - a 35DD - should order a 40A.

Technically, this elastic can stretch to the 36 inch circumference that it claims. However, that is 8.5” (21.5cm) beyond its starting point!

What the actual fuck⁉️ Why would you do this to a person? This thing is SO tight! If I gained even a hint of weight and tried to wear this for a day, I’d have to go to the ER.

I will never buy this brand (Auden) again.

Well, i've been stressing the fuck out about this electrician showing up for over an hour and a half now. So.... that's fun.

No call. Just.... not here.

Side note: this is a ridiculously expensive job we're asking him to do. Not some little "can you rewire an outlet?"

But even that doesn't seem to make it worth an "i'll be late" or "not coming" call.

In ~10 minutes the only electrician who bothered to return our phone calls will be arriving, after
about 6 months of waiting.

I have to make a choice:

1. "femme it up" in hopes of increasing my meager chances of passing.
2. "butch it up" and go through multiple days of trauma as he works on our house.

I'm choosing 1, because "fuck you this is my house". Unfortunately tradespeople have a tendency to be extra trump-loving around here. So, this'll be trauma no matter what.

Just spent ... far too long digging into NY, VT, and NH laws defining the hoops required to get gender affirming care.

NY's hypocrisy can fuck itself. NH is going all-in on the fascism. VT is… meh.

ALL of them (probably all states) have laws assuming trans people are incapable of making the same decisions about their bodies that CIS people can and need to be approved by mental health professionals. They also require adherence to the gender binary to be trans enough to be approved.
